Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

Never played a tekken before outside of 3 super casualy.

Should i even start playing 7? SFV being so unfun and casual, i'm really craving for a fighting game but i heard tekken 7 is extremely hard for newcomers, should i even start? How much will it take me to be decent at this game?

Asuka is generally the sort of character that fails against really high-tier opponents, but she has her moments. In general Asuka is for defensive players who want to pretend they're offensive. Her neutral and block punish options are pretty mediocre, ESPECIALLY from crouching, however she makes up for it with what is probably the largest variety of crush moves outside a capo. She gets disgusting mileage out of her low and high crush moves, and one move (b+3, if I recall correctly) that can crush both low AND high if timed properly. As a result she has some of the most damaging combos in the game.

Her weakness is if her opponent doesn't give her anything to exploit, she's really lackluster. A good turtle player like Jack or something can make Asuka's life miserable, as she has basically no safe approach options. Still, most online players love to play cocky and get in your face, so if you have the patience to read them and punish accordingly Asuka can be a VERY satisfying fighter. Back when I played Tekken 6 eight hours a day, I usually ended a session with Asuka just to relax.

KBD is the only hard thing to learn, but if you can generally backdash cancel you will be fine. Certain characters like Mishimas have hard shit to do, some like Katarina are baby mode

Outside that it is just learning a lot of stuff about characters, legacy skill really help in Tekken. Isn't hard but it just takes time

It's really not hard, even on pad. You just kind of have to get used it it. Mishimas are actually really easy to play imo, especially on stick or ESPECIALLY on hitbox. People like to meme on execution but KBD/wavedashing is cake on stick and hitbox and EWGF actually has no execution on hitbox because it's cheating lel
