Nanako's a well-written character with a great s. link and important, developing role in the story. She's one of the few examples in the medium of a child character that's convincingly childlike in her mannerisms and not insufferable.

Futaba is a character so poor she's actively offensive and brings down the quality of her game. Almost all her dialogue is cringeworthy memes and references that are already dated and will look even worse as the years go on, her place in the story is contrived, the idea of a female hikki is unconvincing pandering aimed at total losers, and she destroys all tension in the story from the point of her introduction by hacking the plot away.
