I'd like to remind you that most of SA2 is on rails and the gameplay is designed in a way for you to mostly hold straight, and that during several on-rails segments your movement is modified so that you don't have infinite turning precision. Play Green Forest if you don't believe me.

This is actually a good thing, having a hybrid movement scheme; modern Sonic feels too unresponsive in slow areas and tight corridors, and Adventure 1 was impossible to control at high speeds. Try fucking playing Speed Highway if you don't believe me.

Adventure

Sonic goes hyperspeed and handles in cutscenes like he does in the Adventure games.

You never see him act like he does in Boost games anywhere besides Boost gameplay.

Adventure makes more sense to me. I like both though, just wish we would have some fresh Adventure game play.

I don't want casualized gameplay because normie e-celebs just cant git gud. The one thing I dislike about Adventure 2 is how movement feels when the floor is not flat. Green forest is the worst offender, but you can skip most scripted sections and non flat floors thanks to spindash+jump which turns green forest from shit to actually fun.

yes. I'm not happy with the amount of speed stages in SA2, most of them are hallways. I wish they made more that are wider and with more options to jump around. The physics of SA1/2 are perfect, I would not tweak them. they're so good that it's better to take the same game and just add stages/update textures/models if they were to make SA3.

Will we ever know the true reason on why Sega never did anything more with the Chaos?

I remember hearing a rumor that the guy who worked on the codes of everything Chaos related (SA1, SA2, PSO, Sonic Advance 1/2/3, Sonic DX, SA2B...etc) got fired or left Sega with everything so they would need to redo everything from the start and Sega though that it wasn't worth the money.
