Over all I liked the game a lot. However, whole I'm not normally a frame rate fag, the shit frame rate and choppiness really fucked up the flow of combat.

Give this game a silky smooth 60 fps and flesh out the story and it's an easy 9/10 in my book. The story really just needed maybe 20 more minutes of cut scenes throughout to make things a bit clearer. I think the story is really great, but it's poorly told.

Imagine an offline MMO with 1000 copy pasted sidequests in between missions. The game's shorter than all other FF storylines too, so you're gonna be doing those side missions for EXP and get your money's worth.

But it's a huge MMO timesink. COPY PASTED quests to the extreme. Open world in name only because the sandbox is just mobs for fetch quest killing mobs. That's it, that's FF15.

20 dollars is what it's worth. Only because the Season Pass content might make up for the obvious lack of compelling narrative sidequests.

They all meshed the same concepts, but it feels like it's trying to take the realism a step up with the restaurants, gas stations, hotels etc. The only "town" that you really saw in FF7 off the top of my head was Kalm, in terms of an actual normal town without any weird shit like a giant canon or aztec warriors.

Not either of the guys arguing about this, but: Fantasy based on Reality has always been my greatest problem with the game. I'm a firm believer that our world and its general culture exists only in its form because of our specific circumstances. Adding magic or monsters into our history would've steered us into a totally different direction, so when I see a game that copies our world into another I'm immediately taken out of the experience. The probabilities, even if there weren't huge factors to consider, would dictate otherwise.

Now about VII being a different case. Every town is filled with punk hairstyle people (that make Cloud fit in) and huge pipes all around, because it's exaggerated larger than life dieselpunk. Materia is common and Mako ownership guides geopolitics. The two are merged.

Now I actually have the same Fantasy based on Reality problem with VIII. Paris shouldn't be in the game. However the history is shaped by sorceresses and there's a futuristic twist (tying to the main plot's theme) to things instead of dieselpunk. The world is a utopia and excessively cleaner than our world. Technology was the weapon of choice against sorceresses and everything is under the iron grip of fate, explaining away the extreme conveniences like Esthar's isolationism allowing the schizophrenic setting. Both sides are, while not intertwined, present at all times.

In XV there's a nigh-complete disconnect between the fantasy and real world reality.

Also for the thread topic: Even Sonic fandom's mod autism couldn't fix XV. Moving on to XVI is right.

For the most part I had no problems with it, my only real issues with it are tangential which would be: Better AI - the Ravus fight was awful because they would never get out of the way when he did his charge move and it would almost always kill them and to impose stricter item usage on the player because the way the "down" works with this game makes dying almost impossible which takes any tension out of the combat.

That's absolutely true though, you'd be surprised by how many RPGs are sustained by the fujo fanbase alone in Japan, I'm not even kidding, they're usually the most dedicated demographic.
