Fire Emblem 4 Remake

IS was very loyal to Gaiden with it's remake. Right down to some of it's biggest flaws like it's maps. So long as they have that same design philosophy then a Genealogy remake will be very much like the original. I wouldn't have any fears that the story would get toned down or get fucked by an out of place self insert character.

The localization however is a different beast. Awakening had any references to incest removed with all cousins becoming companions instead of husband and wife. Genealogy however had a shit ton of incest with you being able to have relatives get married and produce children. There is also the fact that two major characters are the inbred spawn of a brother and sister. I don't know how NoA will tone it down, but I'm sure they'll try their hardest.

Getting back on topic, I'm really scared that if Gaiden doesn't do well here than Fire Emblem is fucked. Especially since Gaiden was such a terrible game, I have doubts that the remake will be good. And if the remake is bad, then few people will buy it, which will lead to the aforementioned ruining of the series.

English Henry is tumblr tier, I don't know how any of you can like him.

While Awakening characters generally sucked, I liked what they tried with Japanese Henry. It was an insight into what a Dark Mage from the enemy side would be like on your team. Basically like if Salem from Thracia 776 actually had dialogue. He's grim, macabre, and thinks only in terms of life or death. English Henry does this too but it's all in a joking manner so none of it comes across as serious at all and he ends up being a joke character, completely losing all the complexity.

On the topic of a FE4 remake, I would love to see it. It's my favorite game in the series and judging by how faithful, to a fault, SoV is to Gaiden, I would expect Genealogy to remain the same in terms of gameplay. The story on the other hand is the thing we need to be afraid of getting changed around here and there for the worse. The addition of an Avatar would be shitty as well, unless they took a major back seat to Sigurd and Seliph, and I mean a serious back seat, none of the bullshit from New Mystery about attributing Marth's success to the Avatar. Unfortunately, all the special snowflakes who want to be the main character and be the secret for the protaganists success would hate that. At this point I'd choose to not see a 4 remake.

There's a lot more I could rant on about, but i'll leave it at this. The series is in a weird position right now where it's getting pushed on all fronts by Nintendo in the way only a major game franchise would, let's not forget the mobile game, but at the same time they're ready to shelf it next to F-Zero and Metroid and the most we'll see of FE will be as Smash characters of a legacy franchise.

Alm's the MC and the only romances are those that existed in the original. Alm/Celica get a bit more development between each other if that bugs you for some weird reason. Because Archanea was founded by a thief who defiled the Shield of Seals and nearly doomed Akaneia to be destroyed by mindless dragons, it means that House Archanea, as represented by Nyna over the course of the series, actually has no divine right. Marth, as the restorer of the Shield, thereby inherits the right as ruler of Akaneia instead, making his quest to dethrone Hardin justified in the eyes of the gods.

People either forget or never really played the Marth games and only interpret his character from Awakening or other games. Marth goes through a lot of shit in his games, even if it's not necessarily bad shit like Sigurd.

If a Holy War remake had to happen, I do hope they rebalance the units while keeping in the spirit of the game. Maps are just incredibly boring in Gen 2 because unless you intentionally gimp yourself with bad children/subs, it's just too easy to give a child a holy weapon and watch them kill everything. There's also the little fact that if you aren't a horse unit, you're kind of fucked in the long run (unless you have a holy weapon, and even then you're still inferior).

Granted, I'm not sure how they would do this other than nerfing the outrageous holy weapon bonuses. A lot of the systems would have to be reworked from the ground up.
