What did IGN mean by this?
>>
I'm going to be honest here, the only score I actually disagree with is Prey.

I feel the same about Andromeda, and I can see why people would love Fallout 4.
>>
It means IGN demands tribute.
>>
>some nobody has varying reviews on different games
>this somehow means something to morons like OP

What did the faggot OP mean by this?
>>
>>376670057
>FO4
>9.5 in anyway at all
>>
I've seen Dan Stapleton on some random podcast or IGN review chat. He seems like a massive casual.
>>
>>376670269
It means /v/ is unable to thing by itself.
Why do you think youtubers are so popular here?
>>
>>376670326
Let me guess, you liked New Vegas more, and differing opinions bother you.
>>
>>376669834
IGN meant that one game had a massive game breaking bug that literally corrupted his saves and the backup saves he received from Arkane while the others didn't.

Simple.
>>
>>376669834
you have a advertising budget, you get your score
>>
>>376669834
Reminder Dan 'The Man' Stapleton is married to a physician. He literally is a trophy husband making meager cash playing children's games.

While you are likely single, bulging belly and poor. Damn, Dan is a winner.
>>
>>376669834
I'm surprised journalists will give something such a low score for a game breaking bug in the age of patches, where every game releases broken needing a patch to fix some shit.

7.7 is the appropriate score for Andromeda though. Putting it significantly lower makes you a bandwagoning memer, and putting it higher makes you a contrarian.

>>376671123
Legitimate chuckle, thank you.

>FO4 and Andromeda get higher scores despite being massive bugfests
>>
>>376671029
It's a major reason New Vegas didn't score as high as Fallout 3. A lot of the reviews mention the gamebreaking bugs and dated graphics as their major complaints.

>My version of the game had a terrible bug that broke the game, I wish they would ship games out in a complete form rather than a buggy mess
>I'll give it a bad score despite the fact that no else I asked had these issues

Jesus christ I don't even like prey but that guy is fucking terrible
>>
Is it really that wrong to give a game a bad review if your experience with it is bad?
>>
>>376671281
But nearly every game is released with game breaking bugs these days. Everything gets patched after release.
>>
>>376671297
The bug is also already fixed.

The real reason it ranked so low is bethesda doesn't hand out review copies for free any more and the jurnos are sour they have to actually pay for a product.
>>
>>376671836
too bad the cause is a mix of incompetent devs/qa and publishers wanting to push something out asap
>>
Why are we upset that a game with a gamebreaking bug gets bad reviews? This is a good thing, developers will learn.
>>
>>376671836

>nearly every game is released with game breaking bugs these day

They're literally not. Every game has bugs, you need to learn what "game breaking" actually means though.
>>
>>376671206
I'd give it a 6, which means that it's still above average if we're going by the full scale from 1-10.

People are just way too accustomed to these inflated review scores that a range from 1-10 gets reduced to something like 5-10, where anything below 7 is shit.
>>
>>376669834
I thought by now everybody agreed that IGN reviews should be taken with a big chunk of salt
>>
>>376670779
You don't even to have to like or dislike New Vegas to see how bad FO4 is.

That guy is a huge faggot but a game breaking bug is a legitimate reason to give a game a shitty score.
>>
Dan Stapleton is insane. Hell destroy a game if he encounters 1 bug, the fix it later.

http://opencritic.com/critic/201/dan-stapleton

See the scores he gives to truly buggy games that are never really patched.
>>
Ok. What the fuck is in Prey - from a political/social standpoint - That's making all these reviewers bash the shit out of it? Does it have some weird anti-feminist agenda or something?

I've played 4 hours of it so far, and it's reminds me of the original Deus Ex. It's a fun fucking game. I don't get why review sites are trashing it, but everyone I've talked to on here/on Steam have said it's great.
>>
>>376673985
it's fun tho

>>
>>376670779
It is bothersome that someone objectively stupid can get work in writing.
>>
The review score is valid for said reasons but you just know it's an obvious edgy review for clicks/outrage.
>>
Do IGN reviewers even have a say on how their reviewers are scored? IIRC, the review scores at Polygon are determined by the editors and not the writers.
>>
>>376676230
I think its the Bethesda policy of sending review copies 1 day before release. Based on what I saw on youtube its a fun game and I'd buy it once it gets a complete edition disc.
>>
How the fuck do I fight Technopaths in space?
>>
>>376676230
Review ban forces journos to compete with YouTube reviewers, who actually play video games and can competently critique them.

Big sites like IGN and Polygon that totally depend on a two-week headstart don't like this.
>>
>>376672708
Andromeda had one that made me quit. Main quest line was completely shot and it wasn't fixed in the first major patch. I gave it month and gave up. But there it is with a 7.7 from this retard, who has a history of making some seriously awful reviews and commentary about games
>>
>>376669834
Someone forgot to pay the piper.
>>
This dude's "review" of Bloodborne is one of the most mind numbingly stupid thinks I've ever read. I did a double take when I saw this review, because I honestly love Prey and usually shit all over AAA games. But when I saw it was fucking Stapleton I wasn't surprised

by what fucking metric is F4 a 9.5?

Objectively it's at the most an 8, personally I give it a 7

>>

You, along with all of /v/, never actually played Andromeda. It has no serious bugs outside of a few running animation bugs that were fixed in a day one patch.
>>
>>376681942
That's precisely why he has a job as a reviewer. It's a feature, not a bug. If they hired skilled, seasoned gamers who had been playing games since Pong, do you think those people would be giving every AAA game a 9?
>>
>>376682105

same. it matters.
>>
>>376670779
Not even him but the whole series is fucking trash, NV was just slightly less trash. The only reason I even bothered playing FO4 was because my friend I share steam libraries with has it.

Sucks for them - I'm fiscally responsible, so that means I have more money to spend on entertainment.

Maybe if people didn't make bad choices with their money, they wouldn't have to search the internet trying to find out what a complete stranger thinks of a game.
