ITT: most based faction in New Vegas

It's not that I hate the legion, its that I hate their implementation in the game. They could've been a serious faction, but instead they played up the slavery like it's a cartoon with these skinny slaves hobbling around with unrealistically huge packs on their backs. Their only dialog options being to ask them how horrible it is to be a slave etc.
The whole thing reeks of SJW bias. It's like they couldn't bear to give them real faction perks (like player housing, decent questline, larger game presence) because after they made them slavers they were too irredeemable to waste resources on.

History repeats itself.
Same as Kotor 2, Obsidian once again didn't have enough time to finish the game for whatever reason.
The Legion could've been so much more. Fully developed, it could've been a faction that the player aimed to join for different reasons, instead of a faction that you join just to see the ending slideshow for it and the small amount of quests it gives you.

When you're a kid, you like the Legion. Being an adult is liking the NCR.

Any Courier whose a tribal, a form of gangster, or whatever other kind of dissolute respects strength or has little value for the lives of strangers could look at that and think Legion is the tightest shit or at the very least someone to be on the good side of.

My gripe was the use of sports gear even up into their mid tier officer ranking armor and essentially using fucking nails to indicate veteran status.

Unlike the NCR, there area was supposed to be free of bureaucratic corruption and horrible inefficiency. The people within it were supposed to be oppressed, but much safer and well-doing when compared to blighted NCR citizens. There are some removed dialogue scenes from Honest Hearts with Joshua (cut to fit the current tone of the game) where he would sort of show you the better side of things when it came to Caesar's fascist rule. His foil was to be Ulysses, who would show you the price of betrayal, and make the player consider whether the legion's method of rule was worth the cruelty it suggested.

A lot of this is was removed because of time and budgetary constraints, and Obsidian's desire to implement Dead Money and Old World Blues (the latter of which was fucking useless and only served to build up Ulysses, who was already built up enough by Lonesome Road).

It's still present in the game in the form of Caesar, who discusses with you his viewpoints on his belief that democracy is an ineffective idea. But because of the lack of any real examples physically in the game, it's easy to just see it all as Caesar being a megalomaniacal liar. Which, even in original intent, he is; but he was meant to be backed by some truth, at least.

However, the ambiguity was supposed to come from the fact that The Legion was a much more prosperous and stable place. The Legion in New Vegas is just one camp with evil orc soldiers and some comical women slaves carrying giant rocks for some reason.

No architecture or anything interesting to speak of there.

The Legion is extremely one dimensional in almost every way.


The atmosphere of the Pitt is much better and the slaves are not comical and with an actual purpose - creating the greatest industry hub in the world and helping create the cure for radiation.

The Pitt slaves work to make weapons and ammo, because they are too weak to fight for their food.
But they can always buy their freedom if they show that they can be physically strong enough to help their society in other ways.

one of the DLC's gives you a grenade launcher right out of the gate
and you'll have a hard time maining the 25mm automatic grenade launcher because the ammo is so scarce
you'll be relying on the 40mm regular grenade launchers until you find the legendary one, or mod in the china lake
land mines will be your biggest friend though, so putting some points in sneak would be a good idea
and don't forget you can reverse-pickpocket handgrenades and TNT

there's also a DLC that adds an explovies crafting perk that lets you craft your own tin can grenades etc. check my webm for an example of something you can craft

Legion would get destroyed irl in a new vegas situation. Their strongest steel armors would get shredded by bullets, even if they are using guns themselves to try to kill NCR before they killed them. Legion would've been more interesting if they dressed like graham in swat bulletproof armors, say they stole it from hijacked police stations or something.

On the other hand NCR lower ranks should've probably have worn national guard uniforms with desert camo. I don't know just some thoughts here.
