okay, okay, this is the objective truth. New vegas is better than fallout 3 on EVERYTHING except the "atmosphere" and exploration of roaming the desolate ruins of the dc wasteland. Everything else is better done in new vegas. Quests, guns, mechanics, the world (it makes more sence even if it isn't as interesting to explore), roleplay possibilities (most important aspect in my opinion), story, characters, writing, lore, you name it. Now, as far as fallout 1 and 2 it is better in some aspects, not all of them, i can agree. It's all subjective in that regard, for example, for me, new vegas has better writing than fallout 1 and 2, but not better roleplay. It's more "fun" (again for me) to play a shooter than a turn based "strategy" isometric game, they are really too different to compare. Finally, I don't know what you're getting at with calling new vegas the "bastard child" of 3 and the originals. It's the sequel, that's it. More of a sequel to the originals than 3 that's for fucking sure.
