I just sold off about 50 of my Amiibo, I fell for the hype. They sat there for months doing absolutely nothing. I was able to get back at least half of what i spent, fuck you Nintendo.

I got like 100 of these for $20 back when they used to be that cheap, now that most people know you can prices have gone up quite a bit, each one has an RFID NTAG215 chip inside so you can write an amiibo to it with a phone.

I've got a clone of just about every Amiibo and even I feel like it wasn't totally worth what I paid for it. I'm now thinking it would have been better if I just used a save editor or something. I can't imagine how people who actually bought amiibo feel.

50 amiibos? holy shit. You either have no taste or you just always do what you think is popular
>>
>>376656761

10/10 bait, time to tell you why this logic is retarded.

Incorrect. Scalpers just bottleneck supply. Online ordering, shipping, preordering, or literally any press about the product at all makes it easier for consumers to get what they want without involving a secondary market like scalping. Further, scalpers tend to buy in bulk and horde products so they have supply to upsell, contributing to any shortage of supply that the primary market may suffer.

Tl;dr: You're just acting like a twat for some extra bucks.
>>
>>376656472
what kit is that?
looks cool
>>
>>376657717
>Scalpers just bottleneck supply.

Yes, that's literally what I said is a good thing. Instead of 1000 amiibos selling to 1000 random people and then never being available again, 1000 amiibos get put into the hands of people actually willing to pay market price.

>Online ordering, shipping, preordering, or literally any press about the product at all makes it easier for consumers to get what they want without involving a secondary market like scalping.

This has nothing to do with anything I said.

>Further, scalpers tend to buy in bulk and horde products so they have supply to upsell, contributing to any shortage of supply that the primary market may suffer.

Buying in bulk doesn't make the product disappear, anon, the supply remains unchanged.

Sure you didn't say true fans but you very clearly said that the ones willing to pay the biggest bucks getting hold of amiibos was a good thing. That was your entire argument for why you said scalpers were good.

Also we're talking about anons here. I have no interest of discussing the entirety of capitalism with you. I have a bunch of the Animal Crossing ones. Waited until they were down to like 5 dollarydoos a piece, picked them up for New Leaf and have been keeping them on my shelf. They look nice, they serve a very minor purpose, and I feel like they were a good purchase overall.

The only Amiibo I have that I didn't buy for super cheap was a SquidKid I got way back and was gonna flip when the price went up. It went from around 12 to 25 bucks pretty early on, but Nintendo wouldn't stop making them, so the price nose dived pretty hard. Diamond industry is bullshit to begin with. When it comes to artificial scarcity, they're basically the ones who wrote the book since there's a monopoly on diamond mining and they just limit the supply of them to build up demand on a fairly common gemstone.

Why do I own Amiibo? I even preordered the ones for Fire Emblem Echoes.

There was your mistake

These things were like beanie babies, they have no actual worth if you modify the packaging or the tags that come with them.

>Nintendo can't produce enough product to meet demand.
Yes they can. Nintendo has a long fucking history of offering a low supply to create a sense of scarcity that makes their products look more attractive ("everyone's buying them, it must be really good", "shit, I might miss out on the opportunity if I don't buy now"). Scalpers just play into this by making stores sell out faster, and by making the products seem really valuable when they mark them up on ebay.

>What the fuck did you expect them to do?

Compare gunpla to amiibos. Even the dirt cheap ones are amazing.

Vid related is cheaper than some of those shitty amiibos are going for right now. That and unlike those solid nintendo hunks of plastic, these are truly a joy to create yourself.

>something like painting minis/figures is pretty much out of the question

Most kits these days look pretty great out of the box. It'll look BETTER if you detail and you'll get more entertainment out of each build, but it's not neccessary.
