Sometimes it's fair to blame the team thought. I main Mercy so I literally can't carry. Plus there's times where the team just doesn't listen and goes 5 DPS.
But you're right, a lot of the time it's not just the team. Shit I got put in Silver rank since I didn't bother with season 3, and played Mercy in my placements. I'm only irritated cause it's gonna take longer to get a gold weapon, which is the only reason I play competitive.

The exact opposite happened to me. I kept trying to find a fun game to play with my friend, but every game he'd get bored of in a week or two. We went through Killing Floor 1/2, Borderlands 1/2, Dead Rising 2/OTR/3, Paragon, TF2, Rocket League, and more. But he won't play any of them, he pretty much exclusively plays Overwatch. And he's the most insufferable player. He'll get a lucky shot and laugh like the other play is terrible, unironically says "please be me" before every potg, and complains when it isn't him. Most people that play OW are fucking awful like this.

Two reasons, ow has a low skill ceiling and normalfags always think their good.

OW and mobas are the sors of games that breed this sort of 'im not the problem mentality' because of the heavy reliance on cooldowns. There are times where you'll have two griefers aka 4vs6 games where it doesnt matter how good you are. You could get headshots on mcree all day but the other team is full of shields and will focus you down because you are the only threat.

In other games like UT or even TF2 the margin of mediocre to great is large enough that the player can carry more of the weight from the team. In OW its so easy to counter anything that it takes a simple switch to get past it. Most characters gunplay are centered around essential abilities so that a character sitting their without them is a sitting duck.

Its why most people who play mobas will complain about their team more than gettin gud.

Because these games are fucking slot machines, you will have a lot of bad matches to make the good one stand out and keep you keeping pressing those unlock loot boxes bottoms.

Bronze is surprisingly... I don't want to say comfy, but it's nice because at least everyone is the same level of shit, so there's no real expectations and pretty much everyone is just having a good time. This has happened to me a shit ton, and I'm GM. What really bothers me is that sometimes you shouldn't need VC to know there is an enemy on your backline. If you fucking hear genji and tracer noises behind you, and there isn't a genji or a tracer on your team, why the fuck aren't your turning around?

I join VC most of the time anyway, but I just immediately leave if the comms are useless and the team is just bitching nonstop. What's funny is that these idiots tell me to rejoin voice in the midst of their arguing.
