I don't even know how it's going to work unless they do that Chronicles shit where you're an ageless warrior that somehow manages to be in every historically significant event every time (and hardly anybody else in the game notices).

Without fail every single Musou game with a hub world has it's hub be horrible, so I'm worried a bit. Plus they said they might cut back on a lot of characters, and I don't want another DW6 situation where only a handful of characters were unique with everybody else being clones or MIA altogether.

Because that game had a shoe-string budget, an inexperienced dev team and was told to aim for a more western audience with it's character choices. Most of the characters they wanted despite that, they were told no. All things considered though, that game turned out quite well and was actually fun, it was just terribly rough.

They've already confirmed all characters are returning and that story modes will be decided by character and start based on who they are and when they were around.
