Mostly this game gets shat on because of homophobia and the fact that it is an all-male playable cast.

Once someone decides they don't like thing, they can come up with all kinds of reasons to justify their dislike of said thing. At the very core of the problem people have with FFXV is pure homophobia. To them, the main cast look like a bunch of queers going on an adventure together.

Personally, I think Squeenix fucked up by having a little too much faith in mankind.
