Which of these is better for a cRPG noob?
I just want a good RPG with lots of player choice, but don't want to be overwhelmed since I haven't played one of these games before. I hear Pillars is good for noobs, but Tyranny has better player choice?
Tyranny is pretty short but it has a few mechanical fixes that you might miss on PoE. Still, I say go for Tyranny first if only because PoE is pretty exhaustive even though it's linear as fuck.
>>376642647
>exhaustive
What do you mean exactly?
>>376642921
It has everything old school RPG has. It's a pretty definitive experience and also can be very long. If you want to know what old RPGs was all about you should try that. Tyranny tried something different, taking many of your decisions into account before being railroaded into an ending later, but it's also really short. So it's perfect for someone really new to the genre.
>>376643394
I cant fucking decide.
Think I'm just gonna go with Pillars since its cheaper and longer. If I get overwhelmed I'll just accept that I fucked up.
>>376643541
Just have fun and get lost in the world and culture it created. It's what these games are all about.
>>376641886
Play Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 instead. Even Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights are better than these two.
>>376641886
Tranny is godawful and full of SJW-written characters.
Literally, within 5 minutes you're forced to endure this edgy STRONK WOMYN, and you can't get rid of her.
Pillars of Eternity is better, but they still censored the game because some SJWs got buttmad.
So, I mean, on principle, you probably shouldn't go for either and look for other CRPGs.
>>376643929
Hi Captain Autismo. Thank you for sharing your virignity with us.
Play Underrail instead.
>>376645078
No, just gay. Have no reason to cuck myself for women.
Don't worry, I'm sure that blue-haired bitch will kiss you after you show her your 4chan posts.
>>376645332
Yeah, underrail is pretty decent. Expansion soon, so, maybe wait till after that.
>>376645508
>faggot hating women
Wew that's even more pathetic than lesbians hating men, your type really need a male version of tumblr
>>376641886
both are bad. icewind dale 2 is a good game if you have already played the other classics
I would say the original fallout is pretty good begging.
>>376645756
I don't hate women, I just don't degrade myself in hopes of finally ending my kiss-less virgin status.
You do you though, anon. You can PM me later if you wanna vent some frustration.
Just play Baldur's Gate 2
I don't understand why people play these games that are generally just trying to be Baldur's Gate 2 and failing when they could just fucking play Baldur's Gate 2
>>376646271
Because, nostalgia goggles aside, Baldur's Gate game are mechanically flawed with typical Bioware writing.
just play planescape torment
>>376646664
I wouldn't really say so and definitely not moreso than the games in OPs pic
>>376643929
>Tranny is godawful and full of SJW-written characters.
>Literally, within 5 minutes you're forced to endure this edgy STRONK WOMYN, and you can't get rid of her.
Not really and strong women make sense.
>Disfavored
Everyone fights because they're a sort of family and all about being the best of the best.
>Scarlet Chorus
Crazies who will take anyone as long as they can survive long enough.
Tyranny has its problems, but the SJW angle is overblown as fuck by people.
>>376643929
reading this made me cringe. how can you be a real person and have this as a real attitude. do you ever speak to other people in person? surely you're not like this irl
>>376641886
PoE, Tyranny is way too limited in scope and execution to even compare. It was Obsidian's side game to make a quick buck, basically.
>>376641886
If you actually want choices you probably can't find a better RPG than Tyranny. There's almost too many minute things that are followed via reputations and dispositions.
>>376643793
>Play Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 instead
>OP asks about RPGs
>gets recommended h&s trash
>>376641886
If you want babby's first crpg, play kotor.
>>376643714
>>376647498
I went with PoE.
Any tips for a beginner before I start?
>>376647630
could you be any more of an obvious troll?
>>376643793
>BG1
please stop this meme, don't recommend bioware games worse than DA2
>>376647746
baldur's gate 1 is legitimately a bad game that's only tolerated because of its proximity to a significantly better one
>>376647873
Nah, BG1 is seen as a bad game because people can't handle low level AD&D. This is not a modern thing derived from player laziness, it was always a hurdle.
>>376647616
On the flipside, you're rewarded for both making people love you and fear you simultaneously. So you never really feel like any choice matters, because there's no consequence.
>>376647873
try again tomorrow
>>376647968
low level AD&D is boring, fighting mundane forest animals, pathetic goblins and gibberlings, and the occasional troll, ogre, or gnoll. That doesn't mean BG1 is a bad game though.
>>376647671
>Any tips for a beginner before I start?
Use food for buffs.
>>376647671
Resist the temptation to constantly make a new character. It's hard as fuck, but if you start doing it, you'll never finish.
could you guys suggest me some decent fully dubbed crpg? DAO, Divinity OS and?
>>376647968
I can handle low level AD&D
when it's in an actual tabletop game where the rules aren't absolute and you can actually do something about the inherent flaws to the system
however in the videogame format, especially in BG1, it is simply a bad combat system. There's no tactical depth to low level BG1, most encounters are either resolved by highrolling or else abusing the poor AI pathing and as a sickeningly high number of classes the combat boils down to "right click, wait until enemy dead"
>>376648310
what are you looking for in a crpg, story, world, characters or mechanics?
>>376648052
>low level AD&D is boring
I never found BG1 boring. PoE on the other hand, is one of the most boring games I've ever played in my life.
Poe uses the retarded ass 'spells per day' system which requires you to know the lay out of a dungeon before every going in
So Tyranny would be better for you

Passing these various checks unlocks different dialogue responses from characters and/or provides alternative ways of progress. Some of the effects are cosmetic, sure, but many are mechanical and legitimately provide alternative ways of progress (i.e. alternative quest solutions) and/or alternative quest rewards.
Now, prove that your shit meme h&s game is an actual RPG by posting a similar list for it.
>>376648563
you are trying way too hard for an obvious troll
>>376648563
This list is for PoE, obviously.
>>376648675
So you have no argument and BG1&2 are h&s dogshit that have nothing to do with actual RPGs? OK, senpai.
>>376647968
People can't handle low level AD&D because it's bad and I say this as someone who fucking ran AD&D campaigns in the early 80s.
There is a reason no one fucking uses it anymore.
>>376648828
why would i argue with a troll who is specifically trying to bait those types of responses out of people? I've been here for almost 14 years, I know better than that.
>>376648550
Nah, you just have to dump the whole "NEVER USE ITEMS EVER" mindset that so many folks developed back during their JRPG phase.
You run out of useful spells? Then fucking rest!
>>376648897
>presenting arguments is now being a troll
BGshitters, ladies and gentlemen. I bet you were the mongoloid dumbfuck who posted picrelated as well.
>>376649109
why are you even still trying?
>>376649220
Yeah, I know it's hopeless to try and talk some sense in shit-eating subhumans like you, who know nothing about the genre, but pretend they do.
>>376649420
>he's still trying
>>376649081
>You run out of useful spells? Then fucking rest!
and this is why mages are ridiculously and stupidly overpowered in all those D&D games: no restrictions on resting
besides spells per day is a stupid concept in videogames anyways, it's a rigid system designed entirely for wargames and tabletop rpg's because it's easy to use, but with a computer handling the mechanical aspects for you there are a lot of other more dynamic systems possible
heck even games that have significantly more focus on resource management than the d&d rpg's don't use spells per day (Nethack being a good example as it's mechanics are clearly inspired by AD&D)
>>376649597
Every post you make just shows how retarded the BG fanbase is. Keep posting reaction images and memes while ignoring the actual argument, it only highlights your retardation and how pathetic BG shitters are.
>RPG """"fans""""
just play pillars with white march it's a good game
>>376649813
>he's STILL trying
