Did you fall asleep or something? All the cases he solved were directly tied to the people who made go berserk via assassinations in the Metaverse, his intellect is grossly overhyped.

Everything about him is manufactured, a fact he readily admits and he doesn't want to go back to his way of life without the fame of "solving cases" that he himself was committing but shifting the blame unto others. The whole reason he wanted to murder you immediately was because it would blow a wind out of his victory lap sail with the media.

I realize all of what you said, but that is actually what makes him an interesting character for me. He's no evil mastermind, he's no gifted detective, he was a puppet of Shido and Yaldabaoth from the very start. I think the thing that I hate the most about Akechi is how unbelievably stupid he is despite the game trying to convince you otherwise. The only thing he does that is even a little clever is when he brings an extra credit card with him through Sae's palace. Aside from that he is a complete fraud unable to solve anything on his own, is actively tricked by almost every character he interacts with, and his master plan is retarded in so many ways I can't even begin to list them all.

Yeah, and to top all of that off, I felt like his death scene was kind of underwhelming. They heavily imply that his Shadow killed him, but still leave it sort of ambiguous, so I was expecting the writers to pull something out of their ass and have him unexpectedly show up at some point in Mementos and be like, "Aha! Turns out he could be a decent detective after all!" but they didn't. In a way, I'm glad they didn't pull a contrivance to bring him back, but on the other, I honestly just got the, "Oh, he's dead now. Okay." feeling instead. Hard to say what they should've done instead.

Pretty much this. He made his move to deceive Shido 2 years before the game begins. He'd be an average 3rd year middle schooler when he made his "grand plan". Of course it's not well thought out. He was a dumb fucking kid when he made it. Most middle schoolers are pretty dumb, but think they're hot shit.

I think he's also really appropriate as a character in a game about the exploitation and abuse of people. His mom killed himself because of him and he was passed from foster care home to foster care home as soon as he became inconvenient. This means even his biological relatives didn't want him, which makes sense because Japan seems to hate bastard children. He learns to put on that shitty "have to please everyone and seem perfect" face in front of the public because of it.

In the end, he pretty much tantrums and vents at the main character how jealous he is that he's loved. He expects the PT to just ditch him when he's down and is confused by them not being shit heads. He's pretty consistent as a character. Just a kid who was abused and really fucked emotionally because of it.

His confrontation reminds me a lot of Mishima's honestly.
