A 20ish character roster at launch that's a 95% Lord Fest with a bias towards the two games that revitalized the franchise and saved it from death, and a few other games that were popular in the west, will be more likely.

Fire Emblem will be the one nintendo game that gets marketed towards the west since it's always the west that gives it the bulk of its sales.

But the Lord route is the "safe" route since, let's face it, the franchise has hundreds of characters. And while nobody is clamouring for Dorcus, there's going to be plenty of people screaming

Not really. I mean you can hate the games and their popularity all you want, but Awakening's characters in particular are generally a lot more interesting than characters in the rest of the series. Really, the only one remotely close is FE9, and that's the exception, not the rule.

I think there's times where you can just call out someone saying something is "boring" is bullshit, though. Especially on a relative scale where somehow Fire Emblem 1-8's characters are set as the baseline for entertaining.

They have way more dialogue, interaction, details, and backstory than characters in the rest of the series do. I don't get how you're even arguing it, maybe you just hate the characters, but I really think you just hate the game and are putting that blanket bias over every single aspect. But they're certainly not boring, compared to other FE characters, because they aren't just a cool design with 2 total lines of dialogue, being one for recruitment and one for death.

Chrom's interesting enough. He's got a violent and short-fused temperament with an obsession for fighting and getting stronger, but he doesn't neglect personally leading his kingdom despite that. His father was a warmonger, and everyone draws parallels between him and his father. You get info about the alternate time that Lucina's from, where he acted out on that more due to injury and loss. They continue that with more dialogue and parallels between Chrom and Walhart.

It's nice to see he's not perfect, and that he flat out failed for his flaws in the other timeline even despite winning wars against Gangrel, Walhart, and Validar.

The reason Hyrule Warriors worked was because the while FE and Zelda are both "medieval fantasy", Zelda is far more whimsical and was able to get away with a lot more diverse characters and movesets.

They could at least try to change styles for certain characters, though Chrom, """"Marth"""" (female) and Marth would be 100% same, riders like Camilla and Marx would need something to offset that by having them be able to summon them for certain situations, Archers have a problem since they rarely ever have anything that's close range but Shinon can change that since he could have close range crossbows, transformers and furries pretty much write themselves, Magic is a hit or miss and I don't know how that'd play.

Overall, it's too likely to be a shit game compared to other fanservice brawlers like Dissidia.

Archers don't seem that hard to use, since Dynasty Warriors has had characters like that. Mounted characters like Marx and Camilla are a bit more complicated. Yeah there have always been horses in DW but they characters weren't built around them. Flying mounts are even more complicated for the obvious reason, though I imagine they'd mechanically have to work just like horses.
