Why is this game so fucking bullshit? The icons on the screen

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Why is this game so fucking bullshit? The icons on the screen don't indicate when to press a button well, sometimes the icons fly in so fast that you actually have to press them AFTER they already passed the target icon on the screen. How did sega make such a mistake? I thought it's a long running series.

So how do I get better at reading triple notes? double notes follow an east pattern of triangle on the left and square on the right going counter clockwise, but all the triple notes I've run into are just a giant triangle thats hard to read. Do they follow a certain pattern like double notes or do I just have to memorize the song-specific triple notes?

Always be visualizing the actual button layout for the game. It helps immensely when trying to follow the patterns of the notes.
Using a dualshock is misleading, try playing on a fight stick or something.
>>
>>376627653
The arcade layout is : Triangle , Square, Cross, Circle
for triple notes, they are placed from left to right or from up to down according to this layout.
Not sure if it's clear

Alternatively, build your own controller: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCOLE0aKJBk
>>
>>376628924
Why would you build your own controller? To perfect 8 star songs? Pfff
>>
>>376629040
To have fun. Do you hate fun? It's a lot funnier this way.
>>
>>376628924
I need to do this one day, do you have any tutorial ?
>>
>>376629343
Not really. I didn't follow any tutorial, I just bought a Brook Universal Fighting PCB Board, 100mm buttons, and square and round buttons, then I figured the woodwork around it.
>>
>>376629485
Too bad because this is one of the coolest PjD homemade controller I've seen online.
I'm sure that if you post the references somewhere on the net (like the projectdiva wiki forum or some discord groups) a lot of people would try to do something similar
>>
>>376628924
I wish I could build my own controller, but I have none of the shit or skills required to do so.

They are not in order, but... you can kinda figure it out.

>this is one of the coolest PjD homemade controller I've seen online.
Thank you. Recently another one built a controller and the construction was cleaner and better done than mine, although I didn't quite like the stick he put in the middle instead of directional buttons. You can see it in Reddit.

the calibration is picture perfect. upgrade your fucking 2003 introduction-of-HDMI era monitor/tv you fucking inbred

I liked reading all your posts through the miku mondays. Made me mad jealous to the point where I even thought of building my own.
Still might when money isnt tight.

Only other thing that scares me off is the woodworking, or case building. If I fucked that up it would be unplayable.

>Only other thing that scares me off is the woodworking, or case building. If I fucked that up it would be unplayable.
Ask for help. I asked my father who is much more skilful than me with wood. I'm sure you know some friend or familiar like that. Or, if not, just be patient and do things slowly, look at woodwork tutorials, etc.

You don't need too much precision, either. The sandpaper can fix almost anything. And don't fear breaking things. I broke two methacrylate sheets until I figured out the proper way of drilling it.
>>
>>376631040
>I'm sure you know some friend or familiar like that
you must be new here.

you're good at handiwork and good at video games, please leave and never return, you dont deserve to turn into the fucking degenerate failure filth you find on this garbage site.
>>
>>376631208
Not him, but woodworking isn't hard at all. cutting and putting shit together isn't hard, it's just making sure the math is right. Home Depot has woodworking for kids like 10 and under where they build shit more complex than a box with a few holes in it.

are you sure its sega problem? do you have check the tv lag? or lag on the control?
have you play the ps3 games on the same tv and did you have the same problem?
>>
>>376627653
Most triple notes tend to be X, square, and either triangle or circle. So an easy way to see is have your fingers automatically placed for X and square and very quickly check what the last shape is. Some of the harder songs mix that up though but it's pretty uncommon.
>>
>>376630615
>Only other thing that scares me off is the woodworking, or case building
A lot of people take woodshop classes in Jr. High or High School so I'm sure there's a lot more people than you think that can help you if you ask.
It might seem a bit intimidating at first but it's actually pretty easy. You can do it anon, I believe in you!

This is the one I was talking about: https://imgur.com/gallery/WzcQ6

The headphones connector is a nice addition.
>>
>>376632428
I actually did a little wood working too, on the same scale, but that was years and years ago.
I understand its not rocket science, but its still intimidating
>>
>>376632564
I like the art on yours way better, but his does have this glossy almost official looking aspect.
Except for the stick right in the middle
>>
>>376630615
Woodworking is really simple. Just remember the wood worker's mantra: "Measure twice, cut once." Go buy a simple hand saw, measure out the exact dimensions that you'll need to make your case and mark it in pencil on the wood, get something to safely cut the wood on, practice using the saw on whatever excess wood you have left over after measuring everything out, and cut away. Its that easy. After that just nail or wood glue it together and you're golden. Don't worry too much about what kind of wood you get. I think often times the literal cheapest wood you can buy is only suitable for specific purposes, but if it looks like it'll work then it probably will. If you're really doubting it, just ask a worker at wherever you're buying them from.

What's the best song and why is it Star Story?
>>
>>376632564
looks cool but it's too abd to have scrath notes going LRLR instead of LLRR
(Also, Miku looks dumb with that stick on the top of her head, would have been better to have it at a top corner in a side of the box)
>>
>>376633095
lol

Okay song but too fucking slow.
>>
>>376633113
LRLR isn't that bad, thats what I got used to anyway
>>
>>376633095
By the way, who plagiarised this song? I swear you I listened to the music before, in a movie or something.
>>
>>376633317
It is if you're trying to have an arcade-like experience, and for double L or R the placement is counter-intuitive
>>
Can't beat nyanyanyanyanyanyanya on Hard. Send help. But really, how do people actually git gud at rhythm games? Just keep playing?
>>
>>376634063
>Just keep playing?
Yes. It's like learning how to play piano. You might feel you're not advancing at all by playing it everyday, but the skill eventually builds up and you are able to do things you couldn't even imagine before.
>>
>>376634063
Keep playing, but don't stick to one game !
Soon on PS4 there will be Superbeat:Xonic and DjMax:Fever
On PC you can try Lunatic Rave 2, Taikojiro, stepmania and other simulators

Thanks, guess I'll just have to keep going. The only rhythm games I've played are Osu(1 and 2)/EBA, rhythm heaven (if that even counts) and several Miku games, but I recently felt like trying to get better at them. I'll take note of these games (I actually have Superbeat Xonic for Vita, but haven't played it yet) and give them a try.

I actually bought a PS4 for this game, but I haven't played it much lately.
Honestly I mainly just play portables and PC now, I would love to see a new Mirai for Switch. Or a FT port.
>>
>>376632564
What's the point of these?
I can play extreme with a normal controller fine, so is it just way easier, or for aesthetic or what?
>>
>>376636431
It's more fun. The charts are designed with the horizontal layout in mind and it shows.

And no, it's not easier at all. Because you can't really dual wield, you need to train your hand and fingers to do some fast notes.
>>
>>376636821
I feel like it would be easier to hit fast repeating notes since you can move your whole arm and not just one finger.

I don't know about most people but I can move my arms a lot faster than my fingers for high speed repetitive motions.
>>
>>376637176
Did you know that the d-pad acts the exact same way as the face buttons?
>>
>>376637304
I do. I use both when there's lots of fast ones.
