What do you have to hide?
>>376624638
nothing really, I just have a pretty big collection and a few of them people know about.
Working on a custom build. Going to drill this sucker out once I varnish it to hide all the scratches and pull the felt out of the inside. Going to put in a ps360+ board, seimitsu buttons, and a jlf with a silent optical PCB.
>>376624734
ps360 why?
Also, hope you have some nice forstner's for the buttons. Makes it a breeze.
>>376624803
I won the ps360+ and the wiring in a focusattack sweepstakes a few years ago. I know Brooke is an easier board but this was free.
>>376624912
Not easier, same form factor and wiring solution. Just curious.
>>376625016
Easier for use once it's installed, I should say. No need to worry about legacy stick compatibility or timeouts (then again I think pretty much every game accepts PS3 sticks now.)
>>376625392
fair enough
>>376625112
what are all those top buttons for
>>376622898
That stick doesn't look like it's made of....wood.
>>376625112
what about the other ones?
>>376625789
l3 touchpad r3 / start PS share
Switches are a kill ground switch to disable them all during tournament play, other one is a 3 way switch to toggle the stick from dpad / LS / RS inputs.

>>376628271
that's what an SOCD cleaner prevents
>>376628389
Those mandatory if hitboxes are to be used in competitive play? If so, how do they screen for that?
Or will the hitbox not simultaneously accept L+R? Reading up on SOCD on SRK has it sounding like a natural non-SOCD'd board has the hitbox selecting either L+R at random when simultaneously pressed, and so perhaps users of the hitbox WANT an SOCD cleaner?
I haven't followed the FGC in a couple years now and never looked into Hitbox use when i did.
>>376630049
socd cleaner prevents fuckups from the "fucky" input side of trying to do grimy shit like this
but it also helps with some motions that are very difficult on hitbox.
also worth noting a lot of games program against it these days instead of just relying on socd cleaner. was a big issue in marvel 3 when it released.
I just have a TES+. I'm excited to watch BB, KoF, T7 and GG.
The only decent fight stick sold in my country seems to be the razer atrox.
I know it broke down during Evo but is it really bad?
It looks pretty sweet from reviews, and you can change that god awful printing pretty easily.
>>376630434
it's very easy to work on. Just put a board in it and replace the usb which is prone to failure.
>>376630434
also, it broke down during Evo AND Capcom Cup grand finals
Got a Mayflash F300 which is my first arcade stick, Customized all the buttons and put in a octganal gate.
>>376621571

>>376621571
What, no Cosby Show stick?
Rocking a hand me down TE from 09 that my brothers gave me. Too much of a college poorfag to get something newer. Still holds up pretty all things considered.
>>376631085
how hard was that? Surely the buttons it came with were soldered on, right?
>>376632507
Easier than I thought, I just used youtube videos to do mine.https://youtu.be/FIy2nuwdbCo?t=5m30s
But I use a Saturn controller.
>>376632976
Same. I also have a Saturn Virtua Stick, but I'd rather use the pad.
>>376632507

>>376625112
>American parts
Holy heck
So I decided to git gud with fightan this year. Should I just start with SFV?
>>376626537
That would be perfect for umvc3. Just assign each button to one of the words and in a single magic series you get that.
>>376633271
Korean parts. Not American. Left is crown 303-fk, right is myoungshin Fanta
>>376631085
Ayy, I did the same thing. Only difference it I am a bigger fan of the square plate. I also swapped out the stick.
>>376631085
Out of curiosity, how do you find the octagonal gate? What games are you playing with it?
I tried mine a while back with SF, but while it felt nice rolling back and forth, I was missing inputs and i couldn't settle into it. Swapped back to 4-gate.
>>376633321
Should start with a good fighting game first.
My baby
>>376633321
No. You will have to spend 80$ right now to have the game with all the characters. I would suggest either Marvel vs Capcom 3 since it has a re-release recently or the new Marvel. There are also a bunch of other fighters though. If you Really want sfv wait for a sale and get the game for 15 - 20 dollars then you can get the game and all its characters for about 60 dollars.
>>376633853
panzer 1! nice.
I have a 1, a quickfire and two 3's.
>>376633675
SFV and TT2 and im going to be using it for tekken 7 too, It honestly feels alot better than the square gate when doing Imputs.
>>376633683
>>376633908
I don't necessarily want to start with SFV. It's just that I know it's the most popular fightan right now. I've been thinking of waiting for Revelator 2, is that a good one to start?
>>376623196
This pic is way older than tumblr you newfag.
>>376634109
It's fine, but you can't be discouraged with the amount of mechanics you have to learn. It has a very robust tutorial that will teach you just about everything you need to know, so that's a big plus.
Just know you'll get your ass handed to you for a little while.
>>376634109
If you have access to a ps4 you can download the Rev 2 demo and try it out. It includes all previously released characters and the two new ones from the Rev 2 update.
>>376621571
>not using a Seinfeld fightstick
>>376634349
I fully expect having my ass handed to me for a long while. Thanks, anon.
>>376634171Tumblr predates the fightstick by about two years
>>376634465
Good one, forgot about that.
>>376634109
Pick up tekken 7, its relatively easy to get in and also has a high skill sealing.
>>376634801
Tekken never really interested me, I don't really know why. I'll probably end up buying it, though.
modding it (haven't played anything in the past month because it stopped working and I've just been lazy) now for ps4/pc with a brook board and a neutrik usb port on the case
hori ex-se with sanwa buttons and an ls32 stick
I mostly play GG and sf2, picked up FGs a couple months ago but I've really been dumping a lot of time into them, going to get into KOF when XIV gets on PC
r8
Been quite awhile since I've actually used it, since I haven't played fighting games for quite some time now.
Maybe I'll get back in when UNIEL[st] is out.
>>376634734
There's also an SFV beta starting later today. I believe it will also have the dlc characters unlocked + the new character Ed.
>>376634109
Start with Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. You'd probably have more luck facing people on Fightcade for that, though. Just look up how to get that set up and you're good to go.
>>376635057
Looks like I picked a prime time to start then. Thanks.
>>376621571
>>376635212
Won't I be obliterated to hell and back for the rest of my life, though? Seems like not a whole lot of people are starting playing SF3 nowadays, and the scene is flooded with veterans of 10+ years.
>>376621571
Whats my best bet nowadays if I want a stick for PS2? It seems like none of the multiconsole PCBs with older console support. are being sold anywhere anymore.
>>376635448
That's how you get good, though. But seriously, I'd recommend just playing a game that has a good tutorial to playing fighting games in general, like Guilty Gear Xrd and Skullgirls. I'm not actually sure how good SFV is teaching general fighting game stuff, but I really don't like how basic the game is.
>>376635448
sf3 is a pretty active game on fightcade, you will easily be able to find matches
emulator's a little buggy but it's ok
getting rekt is how you get good

Octo gates are the worst fucking meme. I do not understand how people end up glomming onto the idea that octogates are worth anything at all, much less their consideration. Like every time I read that some scrub ass fg player installs an octogate to their new stick it takes every ounce of will to not just let loose my greatest Reeeeeee possible
>>376636182
Go to Focus Attack or Paradise Arcade for good parts and shit, though most of their boards are sold out now because Evo
>>376637062
>tfw got a brooks board before they went out of stock
I didn't get the one with headers, like an idiot, though, so no LED functionality as I don't want to fuck with soldering because I haven't soldered a PCB in years
>>376621571
What's the best PS4 stick to get, also, can you mod a RAP4 to have a Korean Crown Stick?
>>376636997
What's so bad about an octo gate?
I have a fightstick for each, square and octo, and I find myself preferring the octo most of the time.
>>376637289
>What's so bad about an octo gate?
can't hit diagonals so easily
doesn't make anything any easier
it just makes DP more clumsy
>>376637289
It's training wheels, and since its baby training wheel bullshit, then why use of a tournamentsI plan to get one though :^)
>>376636182
That's exactly what I was thinking about, I was thinking about making a Fightstick with an arduino as a project, because it's actually cheaper than buying a PCB, and I only ever play games on PC anyway.
>>376637062
There are some cherry switches on the Paradise Arcade site, have you ever played on a fightstick with cherry switches?
>>376637289
They don't make doing inputs easier, and any experienced fighting gamer will tell you that they will only make things more difficult in the long run. They're literally just a meme and a trap that newer/casual players fall into. I've seen it happen time and time again over 15+ years of playing fighting games
Octogates a mathematically shit because diagonals have less space than the other inputs.
But mostly the issue is that octo players tend to ride the gate because they are new to using sticks, so many think the idea is to hit all the way around for inputs instead of figuring out how to his your micro switches for execution. It's like how when you play fighters you can use limbs to try and figure out your hitboxes but it's really not the hitbox to be truly effective you gotta figure that shit out so you don't whiff that shit just because the limb overlaps.
>>376625112
what do you think of korean sticks compared to sanwa? thinking of buying one soon
>>376635874
RAP art modding is shit, if you want art just buy a different stick
How hard is it to make a hitbox?
I heard you need some special board to stop the whole opposite input cheats
>>376638173
You're getting me excited to build my own fightstick now.
How would I go about modding an Street Fighter 4 stick to be universal? Or at least PS4 compatible
>>376635448
Figghtcade does have a shitload of good people in it, most have played the game to hell and back and cam pretty much fuck you up in one wrong move but it is the only active comunity of sf3 besides online edtion, but that one is paid and the netcode aint that great.
>>376640397
It will work with most fighting games already providing it's a PS3 one. If you don't have a PS3 one changing the PCB will be so much money/effort you might as well just find a used PS3 TE
Got a TE2 Chun Li stick and it's great. Kinda sad Madcatz died before getting those Tekken 7 sticks out. Probably pick up the Hori ones tho.
>>376621571
>>376640683
>all those supported games

>>376641069

>>376639176
Crown is OK, I used it for about a year. I just recently picked up the yellow stick with the external mount hole.. Fanta is night and day tremendously better than Crown. Like comparing Hori to Sanwa.
>>376640826
Why would I buy a PS3 TE if what I wanted was one to work for PS4?
>>376641651
unless you are shoegazer that's not yours.
>>376641651
The hell is this?
>>376640397
Brook fightboard or Brook universal fight board.
>>376641684
Most PS3 fightsticks work on PS4
>>376641751
b15sdm stick made for shoegazer
>>376641684
Because it works with pretty much every fighting game and is cheaper than a PS4 one
The brook PCB's to make it a PS4 one are a little expensive, and if you have that stick you posted it doesn't use sanwa parts like the TEs did so buying a used PS3 TE would be a nice upgrade and be less hassle
>>376641696
Just posting some stick stuff.
What's a good stick with small buttons? (Preferably about 24mm) My gf wants to play but has small hands
>>376642003
the only mainstream stick using 24mm primary buttons is the hitbox
>>376642003
>My gf
>>>/reddit/
Anyways I don't think there are any sticks that come with 24mm buttons other than hitboxes, but those are a totally different beast
I've got a Qanba Dragon. I'm getting this printed, and I've got some translucent red buttons shipping to me soon.
>>376642082
>>376642121
Really? That's weird. What about stick recommendations in terms of just generally small? Looking for PS4 and PC compatibility by the way
>>376641147
It does have a load of games, some are dead though, the one thahas some actual comunity are kof 98 and 2002, sf3, alpha 3, vampire savior, garou, alpha 3, samurai showdown and sf2 ST. Therest barely gets anyone but they exist.
Like said befire orepare yoursekf to get your ass kicked, if you enjoy tthe game you will learn eventually.
Balance issues were always a problem for me so I don't play there anymore. You will probably enjoy it.
>>376642253
Why is it weird? 24mm buttons for primary functions is ass.
Qanba Q1 is the smallest stick being produced right now probably. Unless you're ready for toy tier garbage and buy the hori mini.
>>376642443
>24mm buttons for primary functions is ass.
If you're retarded, Hitbox is great.
>>376642529
thank you minority, tell me more about how everyone loves 24mm buttons.
There's something I've been wondering about for a while. Are sanwa buttons a meme or are they actually as good as people say they are?
I've got a RAP4 Kai with the stock Hayabusa parts and while this is the only stick that I've owned the parts all feel great to use and I have no real desire to swap them out. And yet everybody at my local scene insists on Sanwa buttons or the stick is shit.
What's the deal?
>>376642561
5/5 would clap again
>>376641651
Is that a junkyard dog fight stick? How much does something like that run for?
>>376642638
hori parts are essentially the same but a lot worse quality. The sticks are passable, the buttons are not. No reason to not use sanwa buttons.
Where's a good place to find some sweet art for my stick? SNK/KoF related shit in particular. I miss wallbase.
>>376642717
That's from b15sdm and that particular piece was probably upwards of $1000.
>>376642717
Probably in the ballpark of 300-400 bucks depending on how big of a pain in the ass it was to shape the case and paint.
>>376642638
I recently got a HRAP4 after having a TE. The Hori stick is so loose its terrible. If you let it go neutral on its own 9 times out of 10 it will press another input on its own. It feels like an analogue stick not a arcade joystick. The buttons I don't really like the feel of as much as the sanwa ones in the TE.
Obviously this is all personal preference though, I think I'd like the HRAP4 more if I was a Street Fighter player still. As a Guilty Gear player the Hayabusa stick is taking a lot of getting used too
>>376642841
3-400 lol
his base prices for regular special design bespoke cases are near $500
in the custom market $300 won't even buy you anything decent, you're looking at $350-400 before you're in the ballpark of good BASIC pieces.
>>376642831
I've seen some really extravagant B15SDM sticks with tons of like actual working parts that do other shit that were like 800 bucks, like that steampunk stick, I'm pretty sure that one wasn't more than 1k. I have a hard time believing the Junkyard Dog was 1k.
>>376643046
Ok. The steampunk stick was still a basic design case that required no new jig making. This case is 100% custom and on top of ridiculous amounts of time working on the jig, it also includes a ton of machining metal. This is a very expensive case.
I'm building my first one with a 3D printer, I think I'm gonna paint it and sand it down to hide the little nubs printed out in the scaffolding. What color should I go for to really make the buttons pop if I'm using blue, yellow, red, and green buttons? What I'll use for the home & start button colors will be determined by how I paint the faceplate, I want something that complements the blue plastic base I'm printing out.
In the market for an arcade stick, something under 100 dollars. Whats the best to buy?
I was looking at >>376631085 this one or a qanaba Q1. Any recommendations?
>>376643348
>he actually owns a 3D printer
>he wasted probably 10 bucks worth of plastic printing a slab that probably isn't even rigid enough for proper support
>he'll have to sand down the entire thing like a mad cunt to even get a workable surface
>and then he'll paint it anyway
Holy FUCK, man.
3D printers are the biggest meme ever. You could have done that job on a solid bit of acrylic with a laser cutter for a tenth of the price and a FAR better finish.
Or, you could have just bought a hunk of wood and a spade bit.
>>376642572
