Skyrim is way better than Oblivion. Oblivion doesn't have the roleplaying depth or writing of Morrowind and it also doesn't have the world exploration and decent action gameplay of Skyrim. Oblivion's gameplay feels like rancid shit and the game is completely broken at it's core with awful design decisions like level scaling.

Gothic 2 for WRPGs, Persona 5 for JRPGs.

Respectfully (since I know the general consensus is how much better BG2 is) I've always disagreed with this. BG2 always felt way too "on rails" and lacked the open world sense of adventure of BG1. The best part of BG1 was just setting out to explore the wilderness. Low level D&D rules heavily encouraged save scumming but exploring Athkatla was just never as fun as finding caves and dungeons in the woods/mountains, and (to me) never really captured that old fashioned D&D feel.

Don't know where you two are coming from considering BG2 has many more (and better) sidequests than the first game. The only thing it's really lacking are the overabundance of large, mostly empty areas from the first game, which is ultimately an improvement.

It's dumbed down Exile with horrible art direction. At least Exile games had that "Games for Windows 3.1" charm to them. The Exile world is huge and detailed, but more and more of that detail is filed off with every new iteration (the first game has been remade like 3 times now).
The neckbeard dev (forgot his name) insists he's streamlining the games for a wider audience, but those little quirks in the rules that you had to learn to abuse, all the small tasks you had to repeatedly do manually actually gave it depth and more strategic options. In Exile almost every encounter was like a battle in those tactical RPG games like King's Bounty, Avernum is just boring simplistic turn based combat when you and the enemy throw dice at each other until one group is dead.
Exile's interface isn't exactly smooth and user friendly, coupled with the fact they don't run on modern systems you'll really have to want to play it to get into it.

How? Setting is a mix of FO and Metro which hasn't been done as a proper RPG before. Also the Faceless are a nice touch. There's tons of good dialogues and worldbuilding

It's a great RPG because of quest design and character builds. You have lots of ways to solve quests and combat is pretty deep compared to most games nowadays. Also exploring and trying out new builds is fun.
