i'm not sure about it being the overall best because i haven't played them all, but it's definitely up high thanks to the job system and to having one of the best deaths in all of the series. not only is it moving, it's badass and it's one of the only instances if not the only one where the cast legit tries everything to save the dying member, including phoenix dawns and the raise spell. a million times above fucking aerith.

I like it only slightly less than 9.

But I like it above all the other FF's.

It's an amazing, fun, and cute game. Lots of cool assets. Easy to break but that never made me dislike a game as long as it's fun.

I like the Anthologies version best. The translation is super goofy/downright terrible in some parts but very endearing. The music doesn't sound tinny like the GBA version either.

And it's the only american version with multiplayer. I'll probably play through it someday with my little sister.

They have nothing to do with the definitive versions of the other games in the franchise. 4 got a definitive version as recently as last year.
