How easy is it to emulate Gamecube on a toaster?
>>
depends on your definition of toaster, post specs
>>
>>376611410
easy
>>
$80 750Ti can do it.
>>
You need at least a 3GHz C2D
>>
My friend has got Dolphin working on a pretty shit couple of years old laptop. I haven't seen it for myself but apparently it runs fine.

I'd thought if you have an alright cpu in your George Forman Grill then you can run it OK.
>>
>>376611459
Video card has very little to do with emulation

>>376611410
You either need a very fast core 2 duo or any i-series whatsoever. I've got a cheap i5-2400 that runs Dolphin great
>>
just get a wii
You could probably suck somebody off for one

A wii is cheaper. I got a pc for emulating because I am wealthy like that and I have had bad experiences buying used things, they always break down on me. So I prefer to always buy brand new everything.
>>
>>376611732
>>376611903
Literally any PC made after 2010 is going to run Dolphin, you ought to own one of those anyway
>>
>>376611410
Sand Bridge or newer
>>
>>376612009
Maybe OP is a hue hue hue or a taco
When I was poor it was either eating and paying rent or getting a good pc and games
>>
My five year old low-end Thinkpad can run GameCube games at around 40fps. If you have a modern computer that isn't literally a cheap prebuilt for dumb normalfags, you should be able to run them full speed.
>>
>>376612080
Yeah, and Dolphin's requirements were pretty onerous when it came out but it's been almost a decade and there are now refurb office shitboxes worth $80 that have the horsepower to run it.

And getting at least a Sandy Bridge will make everything in your online life easier and more convenient, not just emulation

>>376612163
I was wondering what kind of cheap prebuilt couldn't run Dolphin but then I remembered both Atom and AMD exist
>>
OP here, I tried emulating Dreamcast (Shenmue 2) and it kept crashing so I probably have no chance at Gamecube.
>>
>>376612275
Do you have any idea what your specs are
>>
>>376612275
Dreamcast emulation is fucking shit compared to dolphin's
Download dolphin and try it out, you have nothing to lose but time.
>>
>>376612373
No how do I check?
>>
>>376612275
Wrong.
GameCube emulation is much more developed than Dreamcast.
>>
>>376612391
Okay I'll try.
>>
>>376612394
You can use cpu z or speccy

>Gamecube emulation is bettet than Dreamcast
And why would that be? Wasn't the Dreamcast built with Windows software to some extent? Or does that not matter at all?
>>
>>376612512
I'm retarded I guess.

Can someone run me through the installation process? I'm heading to Emuparadise right now.
>>
>>376612760
Dolphin contributors just give more of a shit than dream cast community.
Also dream cast community is much smaller than nintendo's.
>>
>>376612797
Just quit now. You're too dumb for this shit.

>Wasn't the Dreamcast built with Windows software to some extent?

No. This is a common misconception based on the presence of the Windows CE sticker on the DC. There was a build of Windows developed for running on the DC but the DC itself has it's own proprietary OS. Neither Windows nor any other Microsoft software is used natively on the DC, if you wanted to use the Windows layer you have to put the software on the game disc. As far as I know only one game actually utilized this Windows layer, everything else used the native OS.
>>
If OP doesn't know his specs or how to check them he most likely has a bloated PC.

Go learn some basic shit about computers.
>>
>>376613149
>>376612760
Aside from that, the Xbox was just a fuckin Pentium 3 + GeForce 3 rig and it's still not emulated because nobody really cares

There's a reason the Nintendo systems always get the emulators first

I was able to emulate Melee using Dolphin at a stable 30 fps with this. Had to tweak the shit out of it in order to do so, though it also crashed a lot.
>>
>>376612275
What's the best way to emulate Shenmue 1 and 2?
>>
>>376612967
Well I just got Giftpia up and running so f u.

This is cool, now I just need to get DS3 running.
>>
>>376613373
Don't ask me, could barely get it to work.

Often times Ryo was just a floating pair of eyeballs which was quite funny.

>>
>>376612275
You need to mess with the settings, dude. I'm >>376613335 and, with some tweaking, I can emulate Dreamcast pretty alright. Using nullDC, by the way.
>>
>>376613383
>Giftpia
>>
>>376613535
Short answer: Yes, that's more than enough

That's not a "toaster" by any stretch of the imagination
>>
>>376613535
Are you OP?
That's a mid tier pc, not a toaster.
>>
>>376613723
I can never tell with emulation.
>>
>>376611620
Why people insist on this shit? I used to have bugs and issues emulatng games on ps2 with an igpu and it ran like shit until I got a 750ti. You need both cpu and gpu to emulate at a decent rate.
It is the same with minecraft, fags telling me "lol minecraft doesn't need gpu brah" and then why my i5 4440 with igpu couldn't even run it at short distance okaish?
>>
>>376611410
Can't you just get a Wii?
>>
>>376613846
are you mental? my FIRST pc from 1998 could do emulation, up to the ps1. So long as the emulator is actually good, most before the ps1 run smooth on smartphones, let alone a full scale PC.
>>
>>376611410
I have a core 2 duo e6600
2gb ram
Amd 5450
And i csn play GameCube games at playable fps even have completed few but games like metroid are obviously gonna lag, download isshiruka for maximum performance and activate texture cashing before starting game, which takes those files from internet
>>
>>376613282
>the Xbox was just a fuckin Pentium 3 + GeForce 3 rig and it's still not emulated because nobody really cares

That's also a common misconception. Yes, the CPU was off the shelf and a lot of the other components, e.g. memory, hard drive, etc., were but the motherboard and the GPU were highly customized. People HAVE actually tried to make xbox emulators but have given up because they just can't figure the hardware out.

Saying the Xbox was "just a fuckin Pentium 3 + GeForce 3 rig" is like saying the Gamecube/Wii/Wii U is "just a fucking IBM PowerPC + AMD GPU rig". It's a little more complicated than that.
>>
>>376614536
Well, I always had problems, I just assumed it was because of my hardware, but yeah it's probably that there's just a few GOOD emulators out there and I used the crappy ones.

It's because the GPU's documentation is hidden, Nvidia doesn't reveal that shit
>>
OP here, I got my PS3 pad working with my PC.

How do I use it in Dolphin? I went to the controller option but can't seem to find my Dualshock 3.

I've tested it in control panel and it works right down to the analogue.
>>
>>376615294

You don't honestly think that image proves the xbox was just a regular computer, do you?
>>
>>376615662
Wait, I think I've found it.

That was one of only 50 alpha Xbox dev kits ever made, most of which were irreparably damaged in a flood. WAS. Guess what happened to it?

You still haven't posted your spec.
I can't wait until you think you've got it working, and its 10fps and doesn't run for shit.
