Why not just swap the games for a while until you each beat them, then decide afterward if you want to keep one or the other? I'm sure you aren't itching to beat DMC3 again, assuming you've had it for a while and have spent enough time playing it to be satisfied with it

That said, Nier:A is very good and definitely worth your time, but if you're expecting DMC-level cuhrayzeeness you'll probably be a bit disappointed. It's more narrative-driven than gameplay-driven, though the gameplay is definitely good

Essentially

DMC3's combat is more complex and has a higher skill ceiling, but N:A has a more interesting story and setting, while still maintaining combat that I'd argue is above average. The game has flaws, of course, but overall I found it very enjoyable
