I enjoyed the demo well enough, and buying it made everything better.
You have every option you could want, really easy restarting, and the soundtrack is pretty great.
Story is either hit or miss. It's crazy, so if you enjoy crazy weird shit, it's great.

Party mode is the fucking horrible one.
Fusion is kind of fun because it's just pure free styling. Make whatever chains you want. Try to go as fast as you can.
Do weird shit like letting it pop your puyos slowly.
I definitely found it interesting, and a little bit fun.

Yep, absolutely.
There's pretty much every gamemode you could want, except for Puyo Fever, which is a shame, but really it's fine.
Marathon of Tetris, Endless Puyo for Puyo.
Also if you want you can keep fighting opponent after opponent if you do end up wanting to practice recovering after getting hit with trash, or building a new chain off of the scraps of your old one.

Depends, the AI starts fairly easy and slow on you, so I can make a few chains and end the match quickly, but it gets progressively harder as you climb levels. As for chains, no idea, sometimes I can get 4 at best, but it's mostly 2 since the AI tends to go batshit insane and bury me before I can think of anything.

Yes it has online versis mode. Who you will fight is uo in the air but you can filter so you will always be able to use tetris.

Funnily enough, Puyo Puyo Tetris has become my favourite game on the switch even more than mk8d. The story mode is so charming.

My tetris is braindead tier. Ive slightly improved to trash tier after story mode but the inability to discard unwanted blocks is hard for me.

I grew up with Qwirks (western game of puyo) and Kirby's ghost trap so managed to learn from both. Plys i prefer cute blobs to blocks.

Not really though. Getting to an acceptable level on Puyo is a lot easier than in Tetris. Obviously once you go past that and want to actually get good both of them become incredibly fucking difficult, but just getting kinda okay at Puyo is trivial compared to Tetris.

I disagree. Tetris is really easy, especially with ghost blocks and holds. You really just need to plop down blocks so that they don't have holes. There's no keeping track of colors, there's no thinking ahead, there's really no reason to practice any specific patterns until later on.

I mean seriously.
With tetris, you just move it back and forth until it fits, then drop it. If it doesn't fit, then hold it. Repeat forever. What's hard about that?

Depends on what you consider acceptable I guess.
Just learning how to do a quick 6 step chain in Puyo might take a lot less time than learning and integrating basic T-Spins into your Tetris play, but just knowing some very basic set ups like that doesn't even come close to actually being able to pull this shit off consistently and fast mid-match. Tetris has the advantage in that they don't really have to deal with garbage much, it barely affects their play, if anything it oftentimes even helps them since you can easily use it to get a couple back to backs to attack your opponents, Puyo on the other hand has to constantly adapt and take their nuisance puyos into account, it takes a lot more on the fly thinking and reaction than just recognizing patterns in Tetris.

From an empty field, I'd say so, yeah. Making 5-6 chains is pretty trivial when you don't have to deal with nuisance. Actively and efficiently building for T-Spins requires a lot more forethought and planning in my opinion

Pretty much everything you listed, I suppose I'll just get better eventually if I keep playing, but it's mostly losing track of colors and being too slow to keep up with the AI, the damn thing makes it look like it's just dumping mountians of trash in one place, then shortly after makes endless chains and throws shit at you untill you can't even put 4 puyos together.

I will say that the double-triple t-spin setup and the perfect clear setup is something I don't think I can understand at all.
6-chain is perhaps doable, but only after studying a bit in puyo. I guess you probably have to study a bit for t-spins as well.

Maybe I'm just naturally better at tetris, which is why puyo seems so hard for me to grasp.
At least today I managed to do a couple 10-chains in practice. I'm getting there.

Is there a difference in the way that Tetris has to play when it's Puyo vs Tetris? I know the Puyo player, at high levels, won't stand a chance unless they switch to building very tall chains due to the massive amount of garbage that falls so frequently, but does Tetris have to make any similar adjustments to account for the difference in playing against Puyo? It seems like going for T-spins/combos as fast as you can is the game plan either way, but I don't know shit about playing Tetris well.

Switch has more players and comes with a neat keychain if you get it physical.
PS4 has a better controller, the Dualshock dpad is just so much better than the Joycon or Pro's, especially when it comes to games like this.

It doesn't really change that much whether you play against a Tetris or Puyo player while on Tetris. When you play against Tetris you can take it a bit easier at the beginning and focus more on building walls you can back to back off of, but regardless you should still always try to finish the match with the Perfect Clear setup on your 10th move, if you get that off somewhat quickly against a Puyo player they have pretty much lost already, Tetris can recover or counter with their own perfect clear if they know how to do it, but it's hard.

Search for t spin on YouTube. It's actually quite easy once you start using certain rules concerning what tetrimino to use when. With the 7 bag system in the new Tetris games you will be able to consistently make T spins without getting into trouble with trash, single player that is.
