It would have benefited from a bit more player investment. Like making seasons where some hunting game is more common or rare or having a semblance of real time weather that actually matters and is more consequential. Or more settlement building. Video game audiences are inherently pretty shallow so in a game world without gun finding, a game needs something to replace what that investment represents.

I liked Primal but one thing that never made sense to me is that Ubi flouted the fact that they went out of their way to do research on palio-dielects and palio living but at the same time only included a small fraction of animals to encounter and things to do. As an example. At that time the volume of bird life alone was supposed to be obscene. And since the game used the same map as Farcry 4, which is supposed to be a fake sort of Indonesia with Elephants and monkeys and hunting cats and the like, where the fuck are the giant sloths and giant snakes? An encounter with an absolutely massive constrictor would have been great in a game like Primal. The Titanboa, a prehistory fossil found in the real world region that Primal takes place in was 48-feet long for fucks sake.

They were gonna hand it off to another studio after 3 but the Burning Skies on the Vita didn't sell to well so the series is on hold. I enjoyed 3 a lot, though. I wish I could've tried the multiplayer, but fucking Sony had to shut it down.
