Yeah I wasn't happy that once you got to bagpipes land there was little reason to go to ishgard anymore.
They could just make an area that is closed off in kugane until you reach a certain point in the story and then it unlocks, but they did it with revanents toll in arr and idyllshire in hw so they'll probably do it in sb too.

Why couldn't this game have a normal English translation? I fucking hate the pseudo-olde English way everyone talks. I turn the voices to Japanese but i still have to try and decipher the text. Who the fuck says 'pray' and 'mayhap'

This is a mild topic in fantasy lit right now actually. Lots of fans say books where the characters talk like modern day (Brandon Sanderson's stories for instance) lack prose and are just plain jarring.

I'd prefer ye olde medieval stuff, it's not that hard to understand unless eng isn't your first language.

What's also annoying is that since it's old english, it prolongs the dialogue but is actually pretty short if you understood the meaning.
So you could actually be reading 5 textboxes and it was basically just an errand from Minfillia or something.

FFXI had different ways of speaking depending on what race you spoke to/area you were in. That was good world building.

I've always wondered that since there's lots of people shouting for "accuracy" in english TLs, would there also be japs asking for more flair in their writing? like I heard some of the titles in game come from the english localization team first and sometimes the jap ones really do sound a lot simpler
