It's that it delivered what we wanted from 2 and 3 but also amplified what was obviously WRONG with 2 and 3.

I'm divided on them making her evil. I get what her motivation was, she was angry that Bentley spent so much time helping Sly's legacy that he wasn't giving any time for himself or her, and it kinda made her go yandere, but they didn't do a very good job explaining it. And sometimes it just sounded like she just had a change of heart for the sake of money or power.

From what i heard the creators only had enough time and funds to make either a neat final level or a neat final boss, and for whatever stupid reason went with the former.

The ending was either supposed to be sequel bait or Epilogue DLC bait (the latter of which as I recall was really popular for developers to do at the time....).

Now the franchise is stuck in limbo. Sony seems to be using the movie to give the series one last chance, but given the reception of Ratchet and Clank's movie, I have a bad feeling this is a thief's end.

Everyone's characters are flattened and flanderized, the story is muddled, slapdash lampoon on Ocean's 11, the Cooper Vault and Conner's gang are one big cockslap to the concept of the Cooper Clan and Sly himself, the new teammates were half-baked gimmicks on top of the already minigame-intensive main game, hubs were worthless without collectibles, missions were boring, the color is washed out for some reason...

Sly 3 was rushed beyond belief, beyond salvaging. Honestly, if it weren't for Penelope's appearance in TiT I'd be more than happy to strike it from the canon altogether.
It's a lousy followup to Sly 2, and an insult as the end of the trilogy.

He made it on his own, as his own thief, and saved his friends. It was his equivalent to a "coming of age." He became bigger than he thought he was.

Can we all agree, the premise of the plot in 3 was actually pretty cool? The whole "assemble a crack team of men for the job, even some former enemies" was a pretty cool idea that you only really see in cheesy action movies, and would have been better executed if it weren't for the lack of the regular trio's missions.

I liked it. Though I think the Claw Gang had a stronger overarching connection, I still enjoyed the developing group dynamic in the third game.

One thing I hated about Sly is how his crew decides that there's honor to steal from thieves, and don't mind sending those dishonorable in their eyes to jail. Sounds like a shonen anime

I dunno, I liked Penny's development working to learn with the group, and how she was one of the only characters to get Bentley to open up about his feelings on being disabled, while acknowledging that he has skills beyond his physical limitations.

I've pondered this for years and I've all but convinced myself its a huge gaping plot hole.

So the story goes that Clockwerk is a rival thief to the Cooper clan. It has been this way since the beginning of the clan way back in Ancient egyptian times. To survive the passing millenia, he replaced his body with machinery fueled on hate. So..where the fuck did he get that kind of machinery thousands of years ago? Is it some magic or something? Or is it just straight up not explained?

You have got to remember that Time Travel is a thing.

And literal magic.

But you shouldn't go into it. Clockwerk is good as a mysterious foe. Still wished he was THE antagonist of the series.

I also wish they actually kept up the gang formula they had in Sly 2, where every member of the gang was actually working towards a main goal in their own ways (Except Dmitri because Dmitri).

Maybe he went through different phases of shitty tech updates over the years. Started out with some medieval Celtic magic, before moving onto Steampunk for a few years, before waiting on actual robotics.

I think whatever was left of Clockwerk's mortal body was decayed in the fire of the volcano, leaving just a shell.

But that raises another problem. Arpegio had Clockwerk's brain. His physical brain. Unless if he sold it to someone or not put it into the actual shell, then that's two minds in the one body. We know that the Hate Chip kept the metal alive but what of the organic parts?

Exactly why he works as a villain.

You can see the fucking hatred he has for the Coopers from just his mere existence as a robot. How many steps he took just so he can become the greatest thief in history and he has a commanding aura to boot. Clockwerk is one of the best video game villains and it comes from a game about a talking racoon.

This. I remember first playing Sly 1 where they go in depth about each of the Fiendesh 5 members stories. Raleigh, Muggshot, Mz.Ruby, and the Panda King. When it got to Clockwerk, shit was still in the dark. I was like "Who tf is this guy?" in a good way. 10/10 imo, even if the shit don't make sense

I fucking hated the racing segments in 1, I don't ever recall 2 having shit minigames. I haven't played 3 yet but does it have a fuckload of shit minigames?
