Almost, he went back to a way earlier save but the game kept crashing.

I've not seen anyone else mention the bug at all, and I've played through twice with nearly 60 hours of playtime and experienced 0 bugs myself on two different computers.

Sounds like he was having trouble with a driver or his rig. The only bugs i've run into is doors being open that shouldn't be or computers being unlocked when they shouldn't be yet. I didn't realize it at the time but it made my first run a bit quicker than it should have been.

It is, but it's also extremely hypocritical given they regularly suck Bethesda's distended buggy cock despite game crippling bugs making them unplayable at launch. So while I think a low initial score is fair and warranted, this is the first time IGN has really done this so it's bizarre to see from them.

It's also really fucking stupid because the patch had already been released for a while but I guess the reviewer didn't bother downloading it.

I'd be inclined to say all the mixed reviews are out of spite for the lack of review copies, but even regular youtube people are saying the same things. It genuinely is. It's slightly less deep than SS2 but the gameplay is significantly more smooth and polished on a minute to minute basis. It's essentially System Shock 2(017), and it's great. It does have some flaws like weak enemy variety and poor story execution despite its really interesting themes. I actually like the concept of the ending, but I wish it were executed differently because it could be a really great exploration of identity and humanity if presented better.

Overall it's a legitimate strong 8.

I don't get the same feel from dishonored as I did playing system shock, deus ex or even bioshock. I think the amount of variance in play styles and routes through the levels is too limited in comparison, leaving less room for player agency. It felt like mini deus ex, but that might explain its broad appeal. haven't played D2 yet.

Reviewers are so piss poor at playing games these days that unless a game literally sets everything on a plate and spoon feeds the player while also making them mostly invincible they mark it down.
