Which Dark Souls game should I play?

Bloodborne = Dark Souls > Demon's > SOTFS > 3

This is the most annoying question. Play by release order you mongoloid. Get Dark Souls 1 and then download and install DSFix for it. Then play 2 and 3. It's not like Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy where there are a million games on multiple platforms that you have to ask which ones are good for new comers.

I want to know which is the best for my autism and general good mechanics and game play, I don't especially care about being faithful to release order.

I'm hip deep in Dwarf Fortress here and the only other games I play are Morrowind and Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup.

Trying to expand my horizons now that I have adequate hardware.

What's different between games? Did they gimp stuff?

Instead of bosses swinging 2-5 times in an attack they swing 10-15 times in an attack. Dodging was buffed to compensate, that's pretty much it.

It's a good thing Dark Souls 3 was the last of it, they'd run themselves into a corner mechanically.

Get a controller going and play all 3 on PC

You will be overwhelmed, then underwhelmed then just think that it should have stopped at 1. In that order.
