3 has a lot more vehicle/gimmick levels than 2 does. Airplanes, Coco Jetski, Coco Tiger, Underwater, Motorcycle...

I think only about 18 of the 32 levels actually end up being non-gimmick, platforming-heavy levels. It gets even worse in Wrath of Cortex.

I actually agree with this. The motorcycle levels, Coco water levels, and flying levels were always the worst. I never liked them. The only gimmick levels I enjoyed were the Coco Purra ones though. They were actually pretty fun and well designed.

I prefer Crash 1 only because of the actual challenge. Changing the way checkpoint boxes work and how to get the clear gem each stage ruined the challenge of getting 100%.
