On one hand I'm impressed against my will that they actually made this cutscene pretty presentable. There's body language and facial flourishes added through most everything. Yeah the camerawork is the most barebones shit imaginable and Sara has gone from shit-eating grin to half awake, but it's still a massive improvement.

On the other hand, they were fucking morons to have rushed the game out to get slaughtered in every single hands-on preview and ultimately most of the reviews. And this doesn't fix the lifeless gameplay or hideous menu management, so it's little more than an aesthetic band-aid to show off.

I honestly think it's the best Mass Effect. It might be because I played all the other ones together after 3 came out. I loved the Shepard triologt too I just liked this one more.

They were an inexperienced, incompetent studio in way over their head. Fixes like this are entirely based on other people telling them what was wrong with their game. Picked it up recently for cheap on PC and finally got around to playing it today.

Its in better shape then the EA Access version I tried before it launched, but it still has some major issues. For whatever reason, running it in 4K causes flickering every now and then, as well as a green hue and other shit in cutscenes, so I had to turn down the resolution.

Outside of that, the character models do look better for the most part, and I am not getting as many glitches as I did before. Wish the writing wasn't so shit though.

I think it was mostly the switch from Unreal Engine 3 to Frostbite, and being handled by a inexperienced set of developers.

The original trilogy had more of a cohesive art style (Although I will admit the first game looked like ass at times as well) and the character models for ME:A looked like randomly generated bullshit without a lot of QA on their appearance or polish.
