Double items are implemented very poorly. The reason they worked in Double Dash was because there weren't any coins and you had the ability to switch between them.
Speaking of items, and this is a normal MK8 problem too, the new items are awful. Coins, Piranha Plants, and the Boomerang Flower are all godawful. At least the Tanooki Leaf didn't come back.
Battle revamp is fantastic, but eight maps are hardly enough and most of them are shit. The only new ones I would consider good are Mario Stadium and the Splatoon one, which isn't even original.

The problem isn't that the plants are bad it's because red shells and bullet bills are fucking overpowered. Red shells should be much rarer so that aimed items become more useful and triple reds shouldn't even be a thing because they're brainlessly retarded.

Having bullet, star, and super shroom is nonsense. It was even worse in Wii when the mega shroom was in. They need to kill bullet but they won't because bads like it, like the reds. Bullet also has the possibly of completely fucking you by ending on a turn. It's a shit designed item.

Items took a turn for the worst on Wii and have never recovered.

I hope they patch double items so that it gives you crappier items or something. It's kind of too fucking much.

I could go five races in MK7 without seeing a single blue shell. It's almost impossible to lap someone in 8D because the item balancing creates a horrible case of rubber banding that rewards staying in fifth place until the third lap and fucking over players who can actually traverse a course well enough to stay in the lead without the help of items besides bananas, coins, and green shells.

Idea's for stages can be starting off a ship to land in a volcanic area shoot out the volcano to the swamp, until you reach brambles and fall into a roller coaster, into some creepy woods, leading to a castle that has a air ship docked that you launch off of to reach the shores again. Gyromite stage should be a battle stage with areas opening and closing, Green Hill Zone should have a bunch of boost pads and anti-gravity. Zebes should start with the planet about to self-destruct, and you race through the level as parts blow up behind you, shortcut to save animals, it's a straight shot with no lapping. Fox's level would just be Corneria with the Star Fox crew in a battle against Andross's forces like always, if you're playing as Fox he won't be in his Arwing and his crew will cheer him on though coms. Captain Falcon already has two stages but I'd like Phantom Road.

There is literally one thing keeping this entry from being the perfect Mario Kart, and that is Rainbow Road 64.

It should have been a 2 lap, not 3 lap, but 2 lap event, not a Rally. The Rally is way too short for its incarnation, and 2 laps would have been perfect, while 3 would have been excessive.

Not the first time they would change the laps, i mean Wario Colosseum has 2, and Baby Park DS had 5.

Just tried the same races again, but with acceleration max build instead. I could get miles ahead of everyone, with the LOWEST top speed what the fuck? I might have to do with the double items? Because its 150cc speed, a max speed build doesn't have enough acceleration to recover fast enough, everyone with less speed passes you before you can get your speed back, and by the time you do have it back and start passing everyone, you won't be able to get to 1st from 10th without getting hit once. Also, even though I had the lowest possible top speed, I felt like I was going way faster then I was with the top speed build. It really feels like they buffed acceleration. Ok, I'm back. I was right. Apparently in the old version of the game, acceleration and top speed were only counted by the bars. So 3.25, 3.50, and 3.75 would all be rounded down to 3 equally. But they fixed that in the new version but for acceleration ONLY. So if you have for example, a top speed of 3.75, and a acceleration of 5.75, it becomes 3.75, and 5. No wonder, the stats are all fucked up.
