I'll take FomT era Harvest Moon in just about any setting. It's the best slice of life sim to ever exist. All it's missing is a good story.

That sounds pretty neat. You could have different units of different species have vastly different abilities to interact with the environment, and maybe some sort of puzzle elements to the maps, where you can arm units with specific items that allow them to better clear certain obstacles or be better against some kinds of enemies.
