Bioshock is a simplifies offshoot of System Shock. Prey is System Shock 3.

Prey easily. Bioshock 1 and 2 are fun but they're more straight shooters. Even SS1 without any of the skill fuckery of SS2 has more going on than the Bioshocks.

On a mildly related note, decided to watch Jim Sterling's Prey video. Holy hell,
game journalists. Running around with no armor and being raped because of it, saying he wants to build a combat character but he's so autistic he hasn't spent any points on combat skills, whining about wanting to respec even though it's a big plot point that's repeated many times in the game why that isn't feasible.

He might very well be the worst, the absolute biggest blowhard in the industry. No one else acts like they're the word of god like that fucker Sterling.

I totally understand now why Bethesda chose to not give critics review codes, a lot of them would have written off Prey as being broken unless they saw gamers enjoying it.

Bioshock has objectively better story and atmosphere.
Prey has better progression system, level design, choices and difficulty.

Depends what you're looking for in shock-like games.

All builds are more feasible when you aren't ignoring basic gameplay mechanics like fucking armor, too. Maybe that's why Elizabeth exists. Players like Jim are too retarded to pick up health and ammo so they needed an NPC to force feed the player even in a linear shooter.

I want to try out System Shock 2, how's the gunplay? I hates Bioshock 1 because it had terrible gunplay so I dropped it, SS2 any better?

On my first playthrough went for a basic "combat" build (without typhon abilities no less).

Now that I'm playing through the game second time, I have witnessed the glory of being a sneaky wrench maniac.

Having so much fun lurking around and smacking things to pieces.

How does wrench sneaking work against the electro and fire phantoms? I guess also what difficulty are you on. I thought about being a wrench sneaker on nightmare but I'm glad I didn't once I met those since they hurt so goddamn much to stand near. Not to mention trying to deal with technopaths and weavers with a wrench.

They're sort of different. SS2 is full rpg, Bioshock is fps with rpg elements, and Prey is somewhere in between.
