Will i be able to understand xenoblade 2 if i didnt play any other games? Pretty excited for it, loved playing a big open world in zelda in portable mode. Maximum comfy

Only played Xenogears. I liked it but it does have its flaws... it's a really long game with sometimes poor pacing and the religious symbolism is a bit hamfisted at times, but overall it's definitely worth playing.

Unless we get some more news, the Xenoblade 2 for the Switch is a stand alone title. People thought X might have a connection with Xenoblade 1, but it was almost negligible.

Chronicles X is one of the worst games I ever played.
Chronicles seemed fine for the few hours I played it.
No idea about the others.
Pretty much just wanted to say that Chronicles X is a huge pile of shit and if you like this game your weeabooism has reached mental illness level.

Anyways, something I kinda miss about oldschool xeno was that it wasn't afraid to be a sci-fi without aliens. I mean yeah, the gnosis kinda counted, but in the end they were related to humans and so humanity appears to indeed be alone in the universe

Honestly what' smost disappointing about X's story was that it was nearly so much more, there's a lot of shit going on that's never brought up overtly if you're familiar with Takahashi's work and know to read between the lines/into the details.

One of these days I'm gonna have to square off all the inconsistencies in these and merge it with my own notes form the soundtrack to produce a unified theory of just where the hell X was planning to go.

X has way more themes from Xenosaga Ep 1, than people take for granted, but 99% never played Xenosaga, and of the ones that did 99% of them are too disappointed about the ending to replay an open world game more than once.

Xenogears comes dangerously close to not even being a video game. Cutscenes out the ass. But that's not exactly bad. You will need some patience to get through shit like THE DAMN PRISON

Xenoblade is really great, even if the party AI can be bad

Xenoblade X is weird and has the messiest plot of the three. But if you din't mind the music its a great time stomping around robot land

Saga was pretty bad about the cutscenes too. The second episode felt the worst of it, even though it had only 4.5 hours of cutscenes in total compared to the first episodes ~8. Probably because they were constantly interrupting gameplay, although I suppose its understandable after the complaints they inevitably got from the first episode's long blocks of cutscenes between dungeons.

Xenoblade is an all around pretty damn decent game. Sure, it's kinda unambitious in some spots, but it completely does what it tries to do and I found it to be a joy to play.

Xenoblade X is a weird experiment that kinda tries to be like a WRPG, where the sidequests are more in the foreground of the experience, but never fully commits either way. It's a seriously strange experience.

Xenogears is probably the greatest JRPG story ever imagined. It's also a completely mediocre JRPG story told and a seriously spotty game. But goddamnit, if some of the ideas in the game aren't fucking incredible.
