Other games I really like for PS1 and are generally ignored is G-Darius, Tomba 1 and 2, Rayman 1, Wild Arms 1 and Croc

Metal Gear Solid 1. Really pushed the medium back then for better or worse Great gameplay that even holds up today, great atmosphere, compared to later MGS games best balance between serious and silly.

Definitely my most replayed game of all time. The core gameplay is so good. The music and level designs are tight and it's colorful as dicks.

Besides Spyro The Dragon I would have to say Digimon World. Great OST, the island you explore looks really interesting, gameplay is something no other game does and you get the occasional laugh at the shitty English translation.
I just really fucking love Digimon World .

This shouldn't matter to you unless you're trying to be a special snowflake. Just enjoy games for what they are and not for the fanbases.

Parasite Eve since it has a good unique combat system, fun weapon customization, cool setting and godtier music. Umihara Kawase Shun because its one of the most deep, rewarding platformers around. Raycrisis because its a more fast paced version of Raystorm (excellent game as well) with a cooler aesthetic imo. Also Wipeout 3, Crash Team Racing, R Type Delta, Castlevania Chronicles, Dino Crisis 2 and Vagrant Story.

I'd honestly argue Xenogears is even more overrated, due to the fact that it's genuinely considered a masterpiece despite being even more tedious, up its own ass and has flatter characters than most Final Fantasy games, 7 included.

Legend of Mana holds a nice spot in my top RPG's along with Breath of Fire 3. Parasite Eve and Vagrant Story are worth a playthrough too.

I never played Parasite Eve but I eventually saw an LP of it recently, so I might check it out for myself sometime, the traces of the early FF8 engine design stuff show through really clearly.

Undoubtly the best PS1 game. It didn't however age too well. The controls nowadays feel very clunky even for PS1 standard which also has a lot to do with the camera.

But it has a lot memorable characters, humor that is just the rivht amount of sarcastic without being edgy, memorable boss battles, a great reward and progression system, Tim Burton-esque art style and a spooky theme.

Don't know about the second part and I heard the PSP version sucked.
Unfortunately, we will neither see a remake nor a sequel as Guerilla Cambridge was closed a few months ago.
