Since it will be a while until the next Zelda game, what are some games that capture the same feeling that BoTW gave us in terms of exploration and world-building?
Minecraft, not joking.

There's legitimately nothing to explore in minecraft.

Don't listen to this fag

Morrowind

If it's anything like Skyrim, I wouldn't find the world very interesting to explore.

I mean in terms of giving people the feeling of exploration, Minecraft is pretty good for that, on any play through. Finding a cave system that opens into a ravine and then into a mineshaft is like no other feeling. But in terms of world building, theres not there.
Xenoblade Chronicles X was the best exploration game I have ever played until BoTW came along. So yeah, that.

I bottomed out of this game at 140 hours, 120 shrines, 250 seeds, and all the equipment at 4 stars

I'd like a JRPG game like X but with the interactive systems of BotW. Feels like if you put both together there'd be a solid 10/10 there

I always liked Souls games for their exploration, but I guess that's a different kind.
Witcher 3, maybe? There's quite a lot of detail which makes almost every area feel a little bit special.

>World building
BotW really wasn't special in that regard. Minimal lore, characters rarely interacted with one another and not much in the way of things you can do to shape the world.

For exploration:
Terraria
Dragon Quest Builders
For world building I have no idea, that's a pretty broad term. Could go from Metroid Prime to Dark Soul, and from Witcher 3 to Skyrim
If you want both together?Well, Breath of the Wild is the only game to succeed in having both.
