No. Dragon's Crown is the same way. It actually managed to have less mechanical depth than D&D Shadow Over Mystara amazingly. Vanillaware games could be the poster child for style over substance.

Muramasa kinda sucks. I'll be 100% honest. The combat is actually pretty gimmicky. Using the special powers makes you invulnerable and most fights are just about spamming them and maybe avoiding a few attacks. It's okay but it requires far too much mashing. Game would be much better if they reduced the mashing, lowered health of everything including you, and made it less finger-pain mash fest
