For it's time it was revolutionary though. Not many RPGs had a story at it's level. A lot of JRPGs at the time took from it as well.

Still liked it, and it's the favorite of the SNES trilogy. DS 3D remake was also fun with it's more challenging adventure.

ATB actually is shit though

Having played all of the Final Fantasy games apart from FF13-2/3 and 15, I'd say 4 is one of my least favorites, but out of my least favorites, it's the most playable. Would recommend playing almost any of the other games in the series or just any other JRPG really. Main things I didn't like about it were the forced melodrama and removing killing off party members constantly.
