Every dev is reporting the same thing on PC now. They can barely make a profit anymore because Steam sales have conditioned everyone to either buy it during its launch week or just slightly after, or just wait until it goes on sale. Once everything outside of the most major releases go on sale 2-3 times the money well dries up entirely. Gabe Newell has poisoned the platform with a shortsighted business strategy.

Indies can't take off like they used to, the few that manage to aren't actually making enough money for a second game like Meat Boy and the others were back in 2011. And the exact same issue is affecting every single size game developer on the platform. There's a good reason every PC exclusive that can manage a console control scheme is receiving a port.

Not to mention Microsoft is on the cusp of finally turning Windows 10 into Apple 2. (Inb4 adorable retards think they'll be able to stay on Windows 7 forever). So enjoy learning linux if you want to maintain the same level of autonomy and freedom over the platform that you have now.

PC also effectively doesn't count as a unified platform anymore. Windows 10 has shit compatibility (I have games as recent as 2011 that wont run on it). And new games are on the verge of disincluding Windows 7.
