I want to share something with you /v/. Probably the most rewarding and fun RPG's I have ever played. It's called Crimson Gem Saga, and I encourage you to pick it up. It will cleanse you. This game is the pure essence of fun, perfect plot, beautifully woven character development, and amazing art work. Please /v/, for your sanity, let this game inspire you that games were once fun. I'd give my life just to have you play this. Play it, don't feel like you have to thank me, just share the word as I did to you, and together we can make the world a little bit happier.
Beautiful art

What's the battle system like?
Nowadays I mostly play SRPGs.
Never had so much fun in my life before this game

Sometimes a game is content with merely being average, and Crimson Gem Saga embraces the most basic tenets of the genre with open arms, happily resting on the laurels of what came before. But as it shows, innovative gameplay isn't always necessary when a top-notch presentation, great game balance, and terrific localization can lift it to new heights. Thanks to some clever, satirical writing, Atlus has managed to produce a simple, enjoyable experience that should satisfy anyone looking for a solid PSP RPG.
Beyond a basic turn-based battle system, some impressively deep character growth, a light-hearted (and at times fourth wall-breaking) localization and some seriously retro backgrounds and sprites, there's not a whole lot to the game. The lush art, detailed sprites, chuckle-worthy dialogue and easy-to-understand battles almost instantly click in a way that feels innately old-school but in a tribute sense rather than being antiquated. It's just a simple little RPG done right, and that's precisely why I enjoyed it so much.

I recall it being fairly basic.
The game spends it's time perfecting the little things that make it so much bigger

>Atlus
I just looked it up, apparently it was made by gooks, not Atlus.
What do you mean by "great game balance"? Does it constantly challenge the player to make the most of the game's mechanics or is it just "mash A to win"?
Is there any grinding involved? Random battles? Any filler of that sort?

Thanks for the recommendation, I might pick this up sometime. It sounds pretty good. Love the artstyle too
