Honestly, if I cared more, I could probably route out something similar on Normal difficulty. All you really have to do to exploit her bomb is place it on top of patterns that release a ton of bullets from a single point, which is fairly common on boss patterns.

Losing a few million points is absolutely nothing in comparison to the apparently billions of points that spending lives to increase point item value gets you. Ending lives haven't really been relevant for score since MoF and certain extra stages.

In those games you would use bombs to increase your score and the best way to get more bombs would be suicide for bombs. This game doesn't seem to based as heavily on bombs as the last few games were and is instead focused on chaining your releases. There's enough resources that you can die once or twice and still end with max lives. I think the best super players will keep their lives for the end bonus and it'll make the difference between a good score and a great score.
