A sequel or an spiritual one to Ring of Destruction: Slam Masters II, Capcom's fighting game about wrestlers, please. I have some ideas about the mechanics, i don't think they're good but whatever

The game would have 3 buttons (Light, Heavy, Grapple). The Movement is determined by class of the character(Highflyer, Standard, Mastodon). Standard characters can airdash and double jump(running and springboarding from the ropes). Highflyers can dash twice and mastodons can only double jump
Characters have 3 gauges corresponding to three different parts of the body(head, arms, legs). Certain moves target specific parts If you empty the head part the opponent gets stunned, arms its guard crush and legs forces the opponent into crouching.
Instead of charging the super bar, here called Stamina or whatever, characters start the round with the bar full and when they use moves they deplete the bar who then starts to recharge by itself. Taking damage charges the bar faster. Some moves in the game are roll ups that lead to pinning combination. If you're not careful and is caught by one of these moves with an empty bar you get pinned and lose the round.

Really i just want a straight fighting game about wrestlers. The wrestlers can be cute girls or roided monsters i don't mind

Rock Paper Scissors

Everyone has 100 life points

Winning hand deals 1 life point damage to the other.

Player throwing a winning hand can immediately follow up by reciting a Shakespearean play off the top of their heads, dealing 1 extra damage for every accurate line recited to a maximum of 20 damage

If no play is recited, or upon completed recitation the game goes back to the RPS phase in which both players continue to play rock paper scissors.

If the attacking player messes up their recital, the defending player has 2 seconds to recite the proper line. Upon successful counter-recital the attacking player loses 1 life point and the defending player can continue to recite for further damage.

Players can choose to block in the RPS phase. Defending player loses 0.5 life points as chip damage.

If a player takes 40 consecutive life point damage they go into dizzy mode, allowing the other player a free winning hand.

All characters are cute anime girls.

So how 'bout, instead of making our players memorize several 10-button B&B combos that get repetitive as fuck...how about every combo is only 2 buttons, and the second hit does ALL the damage of a combo?! With 6 buttons and 4 directional modifiers, that's up to 576 combos per character, all able to be learned in 5 seconds! Everything's snappy, you no longer have to sit there doing nothing watching the same 5-second animation you already watched 6 times this match! You get to focus on the actual TACTICS of the fight, without worrying about practicing rhythm game bullshit just to eek out some decent damage!

I had this idea about taking the Real Bout Fatal Fury concept of a 2D game with sidestepping, but applying it to wakeup instead. I guess it would end up playing like a 3D fighter when your opponent is on the ground, with sweeps that can punish a side roll and stuff, but anyway the impetus was to make a really strong drunken boxer character.

Then I also thought about a kind of modern MUGEN with Steam Workshop support, but with a create-a-character aspect, so things would remain more balanced. Essentially you'd choose an archetype, and then you could swap around moves within that class, but if you loaded your own model, the hitboxes wouldn't be affected.

Each character is deliberately simple, but the their simplicity should lend towards creating a large roster and in there you would have a wealth of options and depth in the synergy of your picks. Given the great number you'll have on hand at one time, their special inputs would be universal quarter circles. The game only has three normal buttons, pressing 1+2 or 2+3 will be their own unique inputs and Super versions of specials.

You set up your deck in the order you want, pressing 1+2+3 will give you the next character in the list, gives strategy not only to your roster, but also the order they're in.

Games with long combos don't just do it for the sake of it. Firstly it's to make spacing more important by giving you a string that can only be done at close-range starters, secondly it's to give you more freedom in terms of what you can do to follow-up after the combo. For example, you could choose to go entirely for damage but miss out on oki. You could go for more screencarry, but you're generally going to lose out on damage for it. You could just go for something with a strong knockdown that leads into covering your opponents options on wakeup, but since that will often times lead into a reset, the combo prior to it will generally also be lower in damage.

It's also dependant on screen presence, where you're naturally given an additional advantage by having put them in the corner, resulting in more options in terms of setplay and higher damage because of extended combos that come from the wall making knockback into a smaller factor. Then there's character-specific stuff like say Mu-12 or Venom, who can choose to go for a different combo than normal to get a certain setup for afterwards by setting up balls or steins respectively.

Faggots that don't understand what combos add to the genre should just fuck off back to Divekick.

A 2 button fighter would have a severely gimped neutral because of the fact that you're not given nearly as many tools to consider when it comes to trying to get a hit or utilize pressure smartly. Lets use Ragna as an example. All of his normals serve some purpose in the neutral as anti-airs or spacing tools except 6C and 3C. However, even those two buttons have their own important useage, one to maximize the damage output of certain combos by being his primary launcher, and the other to serve as a close-up knockdown.

By limiting the game to 2 buttons and no directional inputs for normals, you're essentially cutting out everything. What moves do you keep? His 5A and 5C? That makes the AA game completely nonexistant and turns the neutral into a mashfest. 5B and 5C? Makes pressure a fucking joke where everything is negative on block and the risk for going on the offense is torn down to shit.

It's not just casuals who want button inputs and combos changed in such a way, it's clueless shitters who haven't even given a second thought to what they're talking about. All you'd end up with is a piece of shit game nobody would play because it would be braindead as all hell, and not even on par with Divekick at that since at least Divekick has the decency to make the rounds end instantly.

Samurai Jack, the Powerpuff Girls, Dexter, Mandark, Ben10 Finn & Jake, the Crystal Gems, plus some old school Hanna-Barbera characters like Hong Kong Phooey and Harvey Birdman (even make it Attorney at Law Harvey and give him a rivalry with Phoenix Wright), plus you could throw T.O.M. and S.A.R.A. in there from Toonami as well.

I also thought of a really cool gimmick for the Crystal Gems, where if you had more than one on your team, you might have a special where you could fuse them together to play as Opal, Sugilite, etc., and if you had all three, you could form Alexandrite to do a cinematic special.

Bad guys could be Aku and Yami from Okami working together, sort of like Sigma and Ultron.

Alright, I guess I've been softballing some ideas around.

A fighting game set in Valhalla. You'd be playing dead heroes from all over history. A Spartan who died in service to the state, a knight burned at the stake, a mafia mobster who rebelled against the family, a modern day soldier who died trying to rescue a child, etc.

You live, you die, you fight the next day. Takes the concept of Valhalla to justify the constant fighting, they're doing it for its own sake.

Story mode for each character would be the tale of how they died. Arcade mode would end with Odin or something for the boss, but there's no real stakes and all the participants are in it for fun.

Gameplay would probably just be a Fatal Fury ripoff or something. My only real ideas for gameplay are just "don't make it unbalanced and throw in unfun matchups".
