Subtle hints and foreshadowing is fine but if thats all there ever is, why would I even bother. The only character that has some kind of depth in the game is 9S and thats because hes the only one who comes under massive amounts of stress both mentally and physically. Even then hes boring at the end of the day and his autistic rampage at A2 is completely stupid because the Pods could have stopped him at any time.

Reminder that side materials establish that 9S got partially merged with both Adam and Eve because of entire machine network fuckery.
During his battle against Eve the boundary between them straight fades.
This is most likely one of the major reasons 9S goes so crazy on route C as he's influenced by Adam's hatred and Eve's longing.

Then they relapse, he breaks down crying as she accepts him, shows sympathy for him, and doesn't hurt him (despite him currently trying to hurt her), and she feels sick at the situation, at shinji, and at herself, because for an egotist like her, carressing his cheek, emotionally connecting with him would feel new and different and possibly SICKENING to her.

Its them putting their masks on. Shinji cries because her touching him is fulfilling what Rei and his mother told him to get him to end Instrumtality, that the real world will contain more than just suffering and pain

Now Automata is pretty much a smashing success, even SE realized they are sitting on gold when they moved all that FFXV marketing budget to Automata in the last few months before release.

We can get a sequel to Automata, or atleast a game set in the Taroverse I think, NOW its unreasonable to think we couldn't, while it was completely reasonable to think Nier wouldn't get one.
