Honestly the only way to make a revelation like this impactful is by making a game in some sort of theocratic setting. Where gods are such an integral part of everyday life revealing that they are a fake can shake the society to the very foundation.

I mean, a fucking Automata did it way better and you can actually feel the existential dread from the lack of meaning. But PoE is stuck between a typical fantasy world with barely present gods somewhere on a background and major reveal that states that they are fake which won't change anything on a global scale.
