I hesitate to call all superhero comics dogshit garbage since its hard to deny the talent of people like Will Eisner, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Carmine Infantino, Joe Kubert, Neal Adams, JH Williams III, etc. There's an art to making good pulp.

I really hate capeshit though, it fucking tanked the whole medium twice over. Once in the 50s and again in the 90s. The last new comic I read was Kill My Mother, it's been fucking years since then. I wish I could get back into them but I feel like it's easier to just excise comics from my life altogether, won't have to deal with the frustration of the medium's stagnation and interminably slow death.

Too true, there would be nothing wrong with superhero comics if they weren't such a dominant force in comics, they'd just be a little niche genre. The problem is that they're so ingrained in the culture, so synonymous with comics, that even comics that have nothing to do with capeshit feel the need to comment on capeshit. One of my favorite comics is Asterios Polyp but even that has some stupid line in it mocking the idea that comics can only be simplistic good vs evil stories.
