Im looking to get into PC gaming. Problem is I'm a poor fag. What is an extremely good build for $800 budget?
>>
Don't be braindead, do your research.
>>

Use your brain faggot.
>>
>>376380314
$800 is a lot. You probably won't need to compromise all that much to get a good rig for $800. Just don't shoot for anything top of line. Do you have a monitor, desk, or headphones already?

>>
>>376381901
He doesn't really need that SSD if he's on a budget, with that money he could get a decent 1080p monitor.
>>
>>376382153
Yeah, I was hesitant to even put anything for storage. It's pretty much a personal preference thing. Also, what the fuck is up with SSD prices these days. My 850 Evo was cheaper than that years ago.

>>376382041
>not AMD
>current year
>>
>>376380314
get an amd 480 and go for the cheapest possible 1080p 60fps that will look good

480 is the best cheap gpu bar none
then just get a i5 6600k
pimp out whatever else you want for the remaining 400-500 bucks, i'd go for ram just for the heck of it

that would be a nice all rounder
>>
>>376381901
Y so much amd
>>
>>376383287
Why not?
>>
this website isn't bad
https://pcbuildsonabudget.com/good-pc-build-under-800-dollars-2017
>>
>>376380314
Honestly if you are spending on a budget don't even bother. Just get a console. You're paying double to play multiplat games that look and run just as bad as their console counter part because developers don't give a fuck about pc and can't optimize. And even the rare game that you can run on ultra with constant 60 + fps will only make you not want to play anything else. If you don't mind turning down a few setting or playing sub 60 fps then what was the point of spending all that extra money in the first place . Pc is only worthwhile for those who buy top end equipment every year.
>>
>>376383397
there are so many games that play well on modern mid-tier builds

and quite a few games that are pc exclusives or play better with a mouse and keyboard
>>
>>376383397
A 2009 i5 paired up with a 1050ti can play games at 60fps instead of 30fps that consoles barely manage to reach
>>
>>376380314
$800 is fine. You'll want mid tier AMD stuff, a cheap monitor, and a pirated copy of windows, but you can do it fine on $800 if you get smart with your bundles on newegg.
>>
>>376383397
PC is pretty worthwhile in most cases over a cheaper console if you have the money.
First person shooters don't suck
Emulation of everything up to the Wii (subject to change with how CEMU comes along)
Piracy
Better multiplat experiences in most cases, Terraria for example
Use pretty much any input device/controller you want
Online multiplayer is free
>>
7600K + GTX 1060 6GB + 8GB of DDR4 RAM (16 if you can...)

These are the only parts you absolutely want in your $800 build. As for everything else you can pick whatever keeps you under budget.
>>
since we're talking about PC-building, what should i upgrade my GPU with? i have:
>fx-6300
>R9 270
is it worth it for me to get a 480?
>>
>>376383397
Not really everywhere. I ran an FX6350 for fucking ever until upgrading last fall to a 7600k. The RX line of GFX cards are cheap as sin and nice, and SSDs are finally cheap.

There has never been a better time to be a poor gamer. My shit runs minimum 60 fps on a fat old ultrawide on top settings.
>>
>>376383876
480 is an incredibly cost efficient card

but i dont know what games cause amd problems
not very many i hope
>>
>>376383990
so far, none has caused me any problems. my real concern is whether or not it will bottleneck
>>

bottlenecking is only really bad when you min max and accidentally buy a dorito card

that benchmark is outdated. Look up the updated one from december, or the one from last week where they compared the 580 vs the 1060 9Gbps version.
>>
>>376384401
You're needlessly adding the cost of a third party cooler and Z170/270 motherboard to the build, he could save around $150 going with an i5-7500 and a decent B250 board and still wouldn't run into a CPU bottleneck.
>>
>>376384386
is this from before the rx480 drivers were updated?
>>
>>376380314
This should get you by for the next few years but don't expect to go any higher than 1080p for some modern games

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FXKb6X

The i5 comes with a cooling fan/heatsink and you can just download and install an OS from any spare usb stick you have lying around.
>>
>>376384682
>Look up the updated one from december, or the one from last week where they compared the 580 vs the 1060 9Gbps version.

You mean the ones where the creator, who is now partnered with AMD, removed 10 games for being 'NVIDIA-favored' and one game for being 'AMD-favored'?
>>
>>376384709
Looks to be before Battlefield 1 released and Doom got its vulkan patch, in either case, woefully outdated.
>>
>>376384682
i've seen that, the 480 is still slower and the 580 is 2% faster but uses 25% more power.
>>
>>376383863
1up
>>
>>376384220
ah, i see. thanks
>>
>>376384684
Or grab a 1500x which outperforms the 7500
>>
Another console fag here. Any good prebuilt rig?.
>>
>>376383876
Just get a 480/580
>>
>>376384902
right. The increased power consumption might or might not be an issue for some, but my point is that newer benchmarks show that both cards currently trade blows. The 1060 is no longer indisputably better like that picture shows
>>
>>376385093
That also works, but he'll need to be careful picking the motherboard, so many of them have BIOS and memory issues.
>>

>>
>>376385136
Stay away from prebuilt at all costs.
>>
>>376385136
fuck no lol
>>
>>376383397
With a console you'll also be paying for expensive peripherals, subscriptions to use online play and more expensive games. If you consider all of that then a PC is only slightly more expensive and will ultimately save you money.
>>
>>376385136
No. The next best option would be to buy your parts and have someone else build it or just build it yourself
>>
>>376385136
Don't buy prebuilt. If you don't wanna build it yourself heaps of speciality computer stores will build you a rig for about an extra ~$100.
>>
>>376380314
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xVMKLD

if you're willing to spend $30 more this is the absolute best price/perf build anyone can buy today. i'm pretty sure you can get some of these components even cheaper on sale in some places but pcpartpicker isn't showing it. just do some searching around and you can get this build easily down to $800.
>>
>>376380314
Get a ryzen 1600

>>
>>376382384
Flash memory prices are shit right now. Same for RAM.

Look up a video, there are tons.
>>

Time to start over from scratch.

Maybe you can reuse the case.
>>
>>376381901
Try this instead.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CBwFhq

Less expensive case, better mobo, better psu. RAM is single stick for future upgrade to 16GB
>>
>>376386519
retarded build. for $30 more he can have a gtx 1070 and a more powerful psu. >>376385403
>>
>>376386360
You could get a new gpu if you don't want to completely go from scratch but your CPU will hold you back. 580 or 1060 would be a massive upgrade.
>>
>>376386519
>Not Aorus 580
Enjoy your throttling.
>>
>>376386625
$30 more? Where is the magical 1070 for $240 oh wise one?
>>
>>376386360
get a new mobo, cpu, psu (if your current one is 500w or below) and ddr4 ram.

keep your hard drives/ssd's, gpu, case, cpu cooler (assuming it's a decent aftermarket cooler).

800 is a pretty low budget unless you just want 1080p gaming.
Even a poor college student like me can at least get something better.
If you want 4k gaming get a 1080ti.
1440p gaming = get a 1070.
1080p gaming = get a 1060 6GB or RX580.
>>
>>376386769

would it be worthwhile to upgrade my card soon or will the processor hold me back.

You probably want a bigger SSD. 120GB is really tight.
Don't get a founders edition GPU
Monitor is Freesync, which Nvidia refuses to support because they want you to pay the ~$200 G-Sync tax
>>
>>376392594
What's wrong with founder's editions?
Don't know if gsync is worth it.
Thanks anon.

>>
>>376380314
