It simply does not offer enough content-wise, story-wise and has horrible balance. Its competing against Granblue Fantasy, Brave Exvius, Hearthstone and Shadowverse. I'll give some honest opinions.

BoTW is neat, but I don't like open world wandering simulators, and the performance issues take me out of it. Also, I can only play it at my buddy's house since I don't have a Wii U, so my play time is limited to like two sessions.

Splatoon seemed neat, but I don't like shooters either. Played a few games, thought it was okay, moved on.

Smash, particularly Melee, is damn good, but to say it innovated the fighting game genre is laughable since Smash's gameplay style didn't seep into traditional fighting games in any meaningful way, beyond maybe just the general idea of dumbing down controls for the general audience, and non-smash games that do try to run with smash's innovations and general style are semi-derisively referred to as 'smash clones' more than anything else. Melee and Smash 4 do both have strong communities, but there is limited overlap between the two, along with the the general FGC, so saying it 'dominated' the comp scene is silly since more than anything smash and the traditional FGC just coexist more than anything.

I don't think this requires saying, but it is way too fucking early to say fucking anything about ARMS's impact, since the game isn't even fucking out yet, and basically no one has played it beyond people that are being payed to do so at promotional events. Until the general populace gets theirs HANDS on it, the jury is out.

I don't play mobage

Only played a very little bit of the beginning of Xenoblade, and wasn't blown away, but its a JRPG. These things are always fucking slow to start. Might try picking it up again at some point, but eh, I'm not in a hurry.
