Okami is a tremendously good game. It's a rambling adventure, suffers from a bit of mechanical awkwardness at times, but altogether is an absolute masterpiece if you just roll with it.

Okami eclipses the overwhelming majority of titles releases today.

Okami is a fucking good game and is basically 3 AAAs connected into a single storyline

the second part was the best part.

I didn't even realize they released a HD version of it. I never played the game, but it looks fun and almost everything I hear about it has been good. I need to get my hands on it.

It's one of my favorite games. Everything about it is so unique and it has a great art style. It's a long game with a very interesting story and characters. There's like 3 points in the game where the story could end and most people would be satisfied, but it is able to keep the story going in an organic way without feeling tacked on. I bought it for the Wii and then a second time for the PS3.

One of two games, the other being Kid Icarus (3ds) that made me feel like it was incredible at the ending only to find out the game wasn't anywhere close to being done, that was just the very start and the completion of the first story and it got so much better!.

Great feeling.

PS3 version is the PS2 version with sharper visuals and some the new additions.

PS2 is the only one with the ending credits song that sadly had to be removed due to the song/clover studios ip plastered all over it
Wii has pretty decent Wiimote controls which makes the brush aspect more fun.

The music changing in battles really ruined Shinshuu Fields and Ryoshima Coast for me.

It felt a lot longer than it might have been.

Other than that, it's a classic. Play whatever version will give you the rice paper filter.

And you might as well go watch a fucking movie if you just want to listen to the characters talk the whole damn game. Interrupting the gameplay with dialogue stretched out three times longer than it needs to be is stupid and kills any momentum the game has. It's not about "story" or any bullshit like that, it's an issue with pacing and being too verbose at any given time.

Does every Clover game have an enemy with fourth wall breaking mirror abilities? I haven't played Viewtiful Joe, but God Hand and Okami both had it and I was wondering if it was a signature of the studio.

It's less that it drags and more that it's like 3 separate games.

The first part fighting Orochi with Sussano, the second with all the underwater temple stuff and fight with Ninetails, and the last bit where you go to the north. They're all clearly self-contained chapters/acts. So it's quite feasable for you to put down the game for something else and come back to it in a month.

The combat feels kind of clunky and the two screens makes it feel disconnected from my experience. I just think it would've been better on a larger screen. Chibi is very cute but the story lacks the impact of the first.

It's like a way better zelda game because movement is much more important and you use almost all of your powers constantly since you have access to all of them at the same time without needing to menu for em. Artstyle and story and music are great, fun characters, lots to do. Goofy rewards for 100%/newgame+ stuff. Overall pretty solid.
Presumably best way to play is emulated wii with wiimote if your pc can handle rendering it or just ps3, but wii version made painting feel pretty fast, even if the rhythm for attacks is pretty wonky.

Its good but its about 2-3 hours too long and the rehashed boss fights really kill the pacing

The textures don't look any different, the rice filter is uglier than the PS2s and you're better off without it, and it's not 4k.

Kamiya kinda likes the "doppelganger" fights. In Okami, it was the Nine Tails mirroring Ammy's abilities. In TW101, Vorkken serves the same purpose, since he has the same powers you have, and sometimes upgrades/skills you unlock way later in the game
