I don't care how good it sells, I just want to see the ending to this series, I've been waiting over 10 years. S3 got a big reaction when it was announced and there are probably a lot of people like me who weren't able (or didn't want to get scammed) to give to the Kickstarter, but will buy the game.

This will not be one of your Tortanics, your 3.3s or Inafune Conmans.
This is a project headed by motherfucking Yu "AM2" Suzuki, father of Hang-On, Space Harrier, Out Run, After Burner, Virtua Racing, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Cop, and Shenmue, just to name a few of his accomplishments.
The guy has a near spotless record and is for my money as or even more important a figure in gaming than Shigeru Miyamoto.
Not only that, this is his passion project, full of a desire to prove himself and to the world again, despite having all the right to just retire and remain content that his name will forever be prominent in video game history books.
At the very least, Shenmue III is going to be a worthy sequel to the first two.

Because its "massive budget" (now a drop in the bucket compared to what's spent on AAA development) was pioneering new tech and ways to develop a detailed world, from its Sega Saturn origins to its Dreamcast development. Had Sega not had such a rocky past history and been able to support the Dreamcast and/or a successor, they would have profited massively from that investment with sequels and other games benefiting from that R&D (hell, they arguably do if you count the Yakuza series which wouldn't exist without Shenmue comming first). With all that pioneering over and done with and considering modern tech options, Shenmue III can be made at the fraction of the initial cost and still be more than a worthy enough sequel to the first two.

I come from the past. The Dreamcast will be Segas last console.
