VA-11 Hall-A? There's no demo so you're best off stalking Gog.com where you can find it on sale sometimes. If you're really broke get a friend to split the cost: Gog doesn't use DRM so you can share a game with friends. No crap like Steam revoking keys.

I know Hatuful Boyfriend has a demo. It's also on sale at Gog a lot more often than Va-ll Hall-A. I got my copy for less than five bucks.

Characterization.

Each character is based loosely on a copywritten character. For example: Dorothy the robot = Dorothy Wrainwright from The Big 0. Now, they took that character and spun it around until it's it's own entity but knowing the originals makes it somehow more interesting and complex.

Even if you don't recognize where a character comes from. they are still engaging and relatable. You'll find someone you like before the end. You can count on it.
