Release a new version of it that improves upon all the flaws of the current version, allow trade in of the current version depending on condition, and release more exclusive content worth playing

Basically make everything about it better without increasing the price too much

GBA had nice games but the library was somewhat sparse. DS didn't have much at the launch. But combine the two and they made a rather desirable gaming system that ended up being widely successful.

With even more games for people to actually make it worth buying

Imagine, buying a Nintendo system on holiday with Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart and Splatoon 2 at the same time

Turn back time to when there was a casual market for gaming consoles.

Seriously, the casuals that bought the DS and Wii have moved onto the smartphones and shit. There's no bringing them back. And the marketing for this shows that. It'll do well certainly, but not THAT well.
I predict somewhere in the region of 60 to 70 million in 5 years.

Then, release an entirely new slim model with a redesigned dock for the exact same price but without an SD slot.

After that, release a newer high-spec model called the New Nintendo Switch, with faceplates.

Then at the very end of the Switch cycle, release a New Nintendo Switch with NO dock.

Nintendo consoles lifespan is so short that if you didn't buy one of their consoles during its launch window, it's literally not worth it, because a severe price cut / remodel is around the corner and the next console is a few years away.

You underestimate how expensive flash storage is. The xbone and playstation have big hard drives because traditional spinning discs is far cheaper than flash. They obviously couldn't put a mechanical hard drive in it so I don't think they had a choice. I don't like it either but flash is still fairly new.

You're not wrong but if that guy thinks a model without an SD card is a feasible option, that's the tradeoff. And it'd certainly be more than $50 of an increase.

Personally i'm waiting till they release a model without a dock in it. I doubt they'll ever release a version that's a single piece, as in, joycons permanently attached, cause they have so much garbage in the joycons that it defeats the purpose of those millions spent on R&D if no one's feeling the slightly different rumble.

Starting this holiday season, they should start including 1,2 Switch with every console sold. Sell a special variant in 2020 that includes cameras and more powerful hardware. Sell a dock with the improved hardware (~99$) so early adopters aren't screwed.

Realtalk, will the Switch get a revision in a year or two? Nintendo's handhelds tend to get revisions within two years of life, but their home consoles almost never do, the only exception I think being the Wii Mini. Since Switch is both, I don't know what to think.
